^^ Good call. Contacted the dealer i bought my 05 from and they quoted the install at $276 and 2.5 to 3 hours... I'm gonna try it on the dealer that's down the street from me and see if they can beat that quote...

With the right tools, it shouldn't take over 2.5 hours...20 mins for the injectors, reflash the PCM while you work on the SC pulley, and the belt can be quickly swapped while the blower is off...

I need tools.

^^ We'll see. I'm still thinking <$300 is a lot of money. I went through the instructions and it doesn't seem that difficult...

Ask me

i did the install myself with my dad.
You will need a pulley puller which i borrowed from patathSS.
took us about 3 hours with a bit of screw around time at sears. we made a few minor mistakes which made it take longer but none of the mistakes took more than a few seconds to fix.

the supercharger does have to come off. the gasket does NOT need to be replaced.

what i did about the reflash was before hand set it up with my dealership to have them do the reflash for me after the install.
i just babied it to the dealership and let them do their thing.
any questions feel free to PM me.

i didnt have any problems with my stock pulley, i just used a 3prong puller and a 1/2in impact gun and it came right off, didnt bend or scratch at all. my only problem came with pressing the new hub on cause the only pulley installer i could find to fit the hole was somewhat cheap and kept acting up on me. other than that the whole install couldnt have been easier.

the range should be about 240-280 for the total job at a parts installer. The issue is the call they need to make to verify the vic number. that call can take an hour by itself so just make sure they do it WHILE installing the part otherwise be prepared to pay more for nothing

Exactly...or get them to quote you the labor in writing. I don't know if the tech book has suggested labor times or not, but that's the whole reason of book labor vs. actual labor. A certain job has a certain amount of labor it should reasonably take for a mechanic with tools. Most mechanics have better tools / know-how and can get it done faster, or may also have troubles and it could take longer. At least this way both know what money is changing hands ahead of time.

Just talked to my dealer and here's what he says for labor...

1.5 hours for injectors
1.5 hours for pulley
1 hour for reflash
1 hour in there for something i can't remember (new plugs???), but anyways he said the total was...
-----
5 hours @ $88/hour = ~440

He said the normal shop price was actually 118/hour. Why he would give me that discount when the work is only about 440, I don't know. Where the hell are these 2.5 hour install shops??? I'm still planing on installing myself and just paying for the reflash, but goddamn $440 sounds ridiculous.

That quote for labor is wack! My dealership charged me $180.00 for the install and my car was there overnight, because I dropped it off so late. 1.5hrs for fuel injectors, WTF?? I wish I could help you bro.

Yeah dude. I've got chevy dealers up the wazoo around here so I'll call around to figure this out. I just wish I could get a clear answer on if me installing and them only reflashing it will void a warranty or something. Stealership is right...

My bad about the S/C coming off, I forgot I was on the dreaded cobalt forum when I posted lol, I usually flip back and forth. However my Redline was factory designed for quick pulley changes! Saturn was thinking performance first! (HA).

One of the dealers I checked with looked in the book and came up with 3.7 hours total.
1.5 injectors
1.5 blower
0.7 reflash.

I went elsewhere.

I say do it yourself. Just buy that pulley puller/installer from intense, it worked great for me. My brother and I did the install in about 4 hours (we took our sweet time!). The hardest part was trying to slip in the belt and relieving the tensioner to slip in the belt.

GM Stage 2
GMPP Exhaust
Ingals TQ Brace
K&N Intake

About how long would you say it took the dealer to do the reflash? My roommate is taking his car to the stealership tomorrow to get the reflash done and we are going to install the injectors oursleves (stage 1, he already has 2.9' pulley). The dealer he has been talking to seems to have no clue what so ever! They even tried to claim that the staged upgrades had not been released by GM yet!

My quote for Stage 1: 1 hour for injectors, 1 hour for flash @ $95/hr

install

well i paid one of the techs under the table to do the flash.
I was getting the door handles replaced so i just slipped him $40 to do the flash while i put the door things in.

i would say what ever the hourly rate is would be fair.
no more than 1 hour.

So I attempted to install the stage2 this weekend. Got the injectors in fine and went to pull the pulley off to no avail. Guess I need a heavy press. I can figure out how to get the pulley off easy enough, but how do I get the pulley back on without applying force to the supercharger casing which the directions expicitly tell you not to do (probably cause it will mush the aluminum). Help?! I'm figuring I have to use a press to pull it back on using the thread in the shaft, but who can do that? No GM dealers have the equipment around here.

If the reflash is the same for Stage 1 & 2 it means that with my stage 2
i can install the stage 1 and wait later for belt pulley to complete the stage 2,
Right ??

YES you must remove blower! you don't need to take it in the house or anything but you must unbolt it to get it maneuverable.

Don't be afraid to remove blower. Just take a before pic, and make sure everything goes back in place.

Your best bet is to pony up the cash at GM, you get a 3 year warranty and no greasy fingers.
