Stage 2 just installed....

Had it in for now a day....and I've only had time to commute to and from work in bad traffic so far, but in a few short straight aways and a couple passes of slow civics :P I can tell a huge difference in HP and torque!! Very responsive, and very quick to the 15 PSI and redline is right at 7K. Can't wait to get the 2.8 pulley on!!!!! Car idle sways a bit but I'm told it will do that for a day or two and settle around 900RPM's. Anyone debating the Stage 2 know that it is well worth the dough!!! I'm hitting right at 15PSI boost as normal with Stage 2 so everything seems to be normal and working great. I can't wait to test out a few cars that I've been shying away from bc this Stage 2 is the diggitty! Yes I just said that! ha ha

for $1199 parts and labor out the door...............BAD investment, GREAT purchase!!!!

highly recommended!

Guys I waited 3...count em.......THREE months for my Stage 2 to come in!!!!! No pity for a one month wait from me! :P They quoted me 750 plus 229 install, then I show up and he says $400 for install. "$229 is for Stage 1" I fought and fought and nothing. They gave me a rental car for the day to get to work but I was pissed to say the least. F*ckin GM sucks. I've spent a lot of moey in there(they have done my entire car parts and labor..plus buying the car from them)and they do this to me!!! kiss off GM, hire some decent people that keep their word!!!!

People spend the extra dough on stage 2 instead of stage 1 because, it has a special hub that allows pulleys to be exchanged with ease, instead of having to have a pulley puller and other tools. or that is my understanding.

It took me 3 days to get my stage 2 from fredbeansparts.com. It is going to be installed tomorrow. I am dropping the car off for warranty work tonight.

not only that, the belt that coems with stage 2 is tight as hell so you dont have to worry about and idler pulley, stage 2 with bolt ons and a mild tune is deadly, i have stage 2 and i have put on a 2.85 pulley on mine, with my mods the car is a beast, goin for a mild tune to compliment everything and my car is gonna be pretty nuts for what it is,
but to each there own right.

Congrats on Stage 2 - Glad you like it, but damn! $400 for install is nuts, you should have shown them the quoted time of Stage 2 straight from GM, if not I would have taken my Stage 2 and found another dealer. Even then, the $750 for just Stage 2 is a little high as well.

Either way, grats!

my understanding of getting a GM pulley and going to after market is that your able to retain warranty and there is after market pulleys for cheap that bolt on to the GM Hub. thats it.

In fact I may get the pulley and HPtuners and then if needed it can go back to factory fairly easily. I have bumper to bumper for 100,000 KMs so I care a little.

MY stage 2 is approx. two weeks away. just got word from my dealer.

yeah It is pretty much a personal decision. you can argue it and reason either way. there is no bad way of doing it as long as you are going quicker. I just about decided to drop my stg2 because it was on order for over a month. now it has been confirmed to be 2 more weeks. so I have renewed hope. I Plan on doing exactly what your doing distillion. Should be great fun. then I can decide later if I going to do stuff internally and what. If I go that far I want to go Pistons first. build strong engine first!

Hi SUKXOST -

Thanks for the review -

I have decided that I will do the stage 2 to my cobalt.

I am shopping prices now - looking for a deal from some of the dealers I have been buying Corvette stuff from all these years.

I think a header and the stage 2 would about do it for me.

best regards -

Damn that is a lot. Jim Pace has them in stock for $598, and install is only supposed to be 2 hours from what I have heard. Shop rate around here is between $60-70$ish an hour. Cool that you got it though, glad your happy with it. I'm looking forward to going with it and a pulleyboys 2.8", or stage 1, stage 2 belt, and a pulleyboys modular pulley system with a 2.8" to save some dough.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I guess after a 3 month wait I was willing to pay whatever to get it in and get behind the wheel. I'm 6 years Army so I make great money and a guaranteed steady paycheck makes purchases much easier! Got on this thing quite a bit more today as I got offf a little earlier and WOW....this thing is such a trip to drive now! I'm smiling and yelling out loud while alone in my car. LOL So much fun! 1st gear is much more useable with just the 500 more RPS's! I was stuck behind a couple logging trucks and a little Sentra on the way home tonight and I took the oppurtunity to pass em all in one shot since they were bunched up. Was in 3rd at about 40ish and nailed second and I was past all of them in about the length of a tic-tac!!!!! I'm totally hooked and like I said, 2.8 is coming soon! Should be about 12-15 HP more realistically. I'll try and get this thing dyno'd soon and let y'all know the results.

Intense kit gives 19 psi boost and up to 275 WHP and 275 WTQ

intense-racing.com

why not go with intense? with GM stage kits, you keep your warranty and you are running the car a little safer. if you dont care about your warranty, then go with intense.

why not a stage 5? because you have to make deposits or send in your blower/ecu and have downtime. overall, it's a bigger hassle then running your car to the dealer.

I will also be doing stage 2. Just concerned if I order it online and take it to the dealer to install will they say that voids my warrant... Suppose i should start calling around to local dealers to find one that is willing to play ball.

LOL you guys miss read the post. At first I was wondering why you guys were coughting but now I get it. Here I put in my post for you to reread. We use metric here in Canada. lol not Miles. wow that would be some warranty. 100,000 Kilometers coverage is actually approx. 62,000 miles. bumper to bumper is for 60,000 and I paid it up so I have 100,000 K bumper to bumper coverage for 6 years through GM protection Plan.

And you were doubting me and thought I was nuts HA HA HAHHHHH!!
