stage 2 question

so i just bought 60lb injectors and 2.9 pulley. im getting it tuned from a guy in the city. he said he will put the gm stage 2 tune on it. but adjust the injector flow so i can run the injectors fine. so i've posted this on a local group website, and people were saying im going to be running to rich. i just want to get a little more advice. and what mods can i throw on it. and yes i know the header dp catback is the way to go. but i seen alot of guys running stock and having a 2.8. so ya i guess let the flaming begin!
ps. mods are K$N intake, stage 1 axles, tranny inserts.

bump

the gm stage 2 tune is rich from factory
the gm stage 2 tune isn't designed for 2.9
the gm stage 2 tune isn't designed for 60s

why would he be loading that tune...

oh i miss read it, i thought it said putting stage 2 belt on haha i was like ok thats fine

yea dude do some data logging with a tuner and map a better tune, like install the mods get a base tune for the mods loaded and drive it to make adjustments

that sounds like the process i went through something along those lines

this is what he pmed me
The stage2 tune seems to work OK with a 2.9" pulley, so once again if I just copy the stage2 settings and change the settings for the larger injectors you'll be fine.
I have 60# injectors and a 2.8" pulley I got from ZZP, and a modified GM stage2 tune that I'm still fine tuning

Again, if your just doing this so you can drive around a little bit for a real tune, fine. (may not even work, idk)
If this is a tune meant for the long run,

this tune will NOT give you good AFR's
your tune will either be too rich, which leads to clogged cats and overboosting
your tune will be too lean, which leads to broken cylinder 4

you will also NOT be making the most power you could be.

if i were you, id get that car tuned by a legitimate tuning source as soon as possible.

so if i threw a 2.8 would everything be just fine? i dont get how it can be lean or rich. if they tune the injectors on how much fuel will go out of them. wouldnt that help prevent running to rich or lean? he said we can do some road time for tunning.

If your hazy on how the tuning works i would suggest searching around on this forum. you can find a lot of good info.
"tuning" the injectors means getting the flow rates/offset tables right.
this has nothing to do with your any of your airflow charts which ultimately determine your AFR

From what you are saying, this guy sounds like he isn't the most knowledgeable on tuning. You might want to post a thread on your local board asking for a local tuner.

I just put a 2.8" pulley on with 60's on a stage 2 tune. I suggest you don't use that tune file unless you have access to someone tuning it. It ran fine alright but I am in the process of getting it tuned. The tune isn't that good to begin with. You will run really rich and burn out your cat if you decide not to tune it. I edited the post because the ticking was my stupidity, I ripped my belt. Ugh. The stage 2 limits your boost after 4800rpm. Horrible fuel curves, etc. It is a good basemap though.
