Stage 2 / Stage 3
Stage 2 / Stage 3
I'm saving up for stage 2 right now and hope to have enough by spring next year. Question for you guys though. Will stage 3 be built off stage 2. I would think the stages would be built off each other. I dont wanna get stage 2 and find out i should have just waited for stage 3. Let me know.
it ould be nice of gm would drop the price, or price ranges. it would be realy nice. but when they do come out i got 4gs to put into my cobaltss/sc. but i hope i dont have to spend all of it on the stage 3 package.
Dude, have you seen something nobody else has seen? I haven't seen any stage 1 or stage 2 upgrades yet, let alone prices on them. However, for stage 1 I can't see it being very much, since it's only gonna be like a 25hp upgrade. Stage 2 is supposed to be like 65hp, but still shouldn't cost a huge amount. My thought are along the lines of ECU upgrade/reflash, pulley upgrade and intake should take it 65 hp. Shoot, since they set the boost to such a conservative level, I bet it may be just an ECU reflash to get the extra boost to bring it to 230hp easy. That's with only a couple psi from where it is now. So add the smaller pulley and K&N intake and it'll easily be at 270hp. With these simple upgrades, I can't see it costing more than $1000-1500, cause even at $1000, it would be fairly expensive for those things.
Just take some estimates from what is already being said and tested/used on the redline and some ss's. A modest pulley will give like 20-25hp, the intake is supposed to give between 10-20hp and take another conservative amount with the ECU reflash and you got your 65hp easy.
Also, since the engine is already underated, any hp gain is gonna be more than what they say as well. I'm thinking that the 230hp for stage 1 will be whp and the same for stage 2, it'll be like 270whp. That's like 250-260hp stage 1 and 290-300hp stage 2. I like those figures.

shhhhh don't tell them that. some of the guys around here appearently know much more than gm themselves. by the time gm releases something we will hear claims of a stage 11 2300whp on the stock bottom end
I dont know if they are coming out with stage 3 but it would be sweet. I'll go wit stage 2 in the mean time.
Does anyone know if we can put a larger supercharger on the 2.0L or is the M62 the biggest we can go???

from things i have seen, i doubt you will pull more more out of that s/c. i was on the assumption that gm has pretty much topped it out (same with the saturn redlines). but i dont own one, so i dont know =\

I don't think the m62 is at its limit from the factory..on the last epsiode of STREET TUNER CHALLENGE, after building up the motor, they put the stock blower and intercooler back on. One of the head engineers said that they "can get a lot more out of the stock supercharger than what they come in the production car." So, if they're using the stock blower and IC on their race car, i would say it's a good setup.
