Stage 3...
Stage 3...
Well, I went today to get my Stage 2 installed. Got it put in, and I love it. This car is fast as hell....
But, I'm making this thread because when I get there and tell them what I need the guy goes "why don't you just put the GM Stage 3 kit on it?" and I told him "I like my warranty, that's why.." he begins to tell me "You can put the GM Stage 3 kit on, as long as it's installed by a GM tech and it'll still be under warranty"...
Is this true? Or has anyone heard of this before?

its not true.
Stage 3 is not covered under warranty.
the PARTS of the kit are under their own warranty, your BUMPER TO BUMPER section of warranty will be intact. but you can kiss goodbye to your powertrain warranty

Stage 3 is not covered and will void, the gm documentation covers this and it also states that use you can use it for a "daily driver" and the reason they disabled the a/c is as a deterrant to those who install it on street cars
You guys are right; stage 3 is not covered under warranty by GM. If the service writer specifically tells you that he will install it and still work on your car, this is another way of saying, "I will not fully void your warranty because gm will not know that you have this kit; however if I can't explain an issue to them such as a hole in a piston then there's nothing I can do warranty wise."
Some shops actually do this, and the reason is this. They will install performance parts and continue to warranty things such as headlights, faulty sensor, a/c etc. etc. All they are doing is waiting on your engine to break because you will likely get it fixed by them since you would like for your car to at least get some things covered under warranty. Taking it to another dealership would expose you as having stage 3 and then you'd be screwed. They are trying to make money in the end, which is why they will install a part that they know could possibly lead to failure that they don't have to cover but will fix.
I have witnessed it happen. Now, their thought process may not be all about screwing you, but they figure hey why not make some money from GM and this owner at the same time.

yeah, a guy I kinda know in town got it and man is it fun....but when he sprayed on the highway, going against a vette, KABOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!! @ like 145ish and the dealer throws their hands up and laughs....
well, you lose your a/c DUE TO OFFROAD ONLY USE. THAT VOIDS WARRANTY. not emissions tested anyone? oh yes, that has been said
anyone else posting otherwise in this thread needs to evaluate their use of logic.

The part that gets me about this whole thing is that a GM tech should know that you have to install stage 2 before you go to stage 3. Stage 3 is an upgrade kit that complements stage 2 (you need the injectors, belt, and pully hub from the stage 2 kit).

The other guys on this forum are telling the truth. GM stage III does VOID your warnnity. If they say it does not, get it in writing from the GM tech. Then get it installed and they would be fucked prolly.

i dont understand this? why would GM make a product and wouldnt stand by it? yeah the stand by the parts but why not the powertrain? they sound doutful about our vehicals eh?
There's no reflash for the stage 3. It comes with a new PCM to swap out with your original. That way when you want a stage 2 back, you just put your original PCM back on. The car will run just fine with the stage 3 pulley with the stage 2 pcm programming.
