dude, fred beans sells the kit for 600 bucks and that's including shipping, and crate engine depot sells it for like 637 i say buy it online. Anything the dealer sells you will always be a bit more over priced.

yeah, but if you install all that yourself they will probably not reflash the ecu, also, they probably say you voided the warranty and such they won't even touch the car.

well im pretty sure that you are able to install the injectors yourself and have the reflash done at the dealer... then you can install your pulley and the dealer never has to know.... im just trying to show that there is more than one way to go about this and you dont have to spend a rediculous amount of money

that's not bad at all, i mean i've read about some people paying over a 1000 for their stage 2 kits, that's an absurd amount of money to pay.

Well they said the kit itself would be ~600. But with labor and such... 900

So let me get this strait....

Buy stage I, swap with a stage II belt and a 2.8 pully and the dealership will install this for me at the Stage I labor price and I'll have better performance that stage II & I'll be warrantied?

I bought my stg 2 kit from pace parts for like 600 and some change shipped.

And I can tell you for a fact that my dealership would have had no idea if I would have just put the 2.8 on to begin with. I even had to show them where to get the P/N for the reflash, lol

I never used the blue bolts, because I had the 2.8 sittin on my bench waiting to go, and they didn't say a word. and you'd hafta really know your **** to see a diff. between the stg 2 pulley and the PB 2.8.

That said, I'm glad I ran the 3" for a week or two before I swapped to the 2.8, because I actually felt the difference in each step up. So it may be all mental, but I think it made me appreciate the 2.8 that much more. Otherwise your jumping from stock all the way up,,, just my .02

I'd be willing to bet that 99% of dealerships couldn't tell the diff if you just took it in with the 2.8 for the flash. Esp. if you use the blue bolts

Uhm no

The only problem with this is that stg 1 doesn't come with the hub. So if you want to go with the PB 2.8 pulley you'd need to get the GM hub.

Of course you could always just buy any other modular system (Intense, Pulley Boys, Billetflow, etc) and have whatever pulleys you want, but this kind of kills the whole "cheaper than GM" idea, and def. kisses your warranty good bye.

Just do what I did, buy the stg 2 kit, that way you get the hub. And you can swap back to the 3" pulley that comes with stg2 for warranty work if needed, like I was saying earlier though, most techs wouldn't be able to tell the diff between the two pulleys unless they have an SS or know their **** inside and out. The only diff (other than the obvious) is a little stamping on the face of the stg 2 pulley. The swap only takes 5-10 minutes anyways.

Stg 2 = 600 shipped from pace
PB 2.8 = 100
Me =

I also bought the PB puller tool, and did my own install. I didn't trust any dealerships around here to do it.

PB Puller tool? I thought it was just 4 bolts and it slips right off?

Dont you need to reflash the comp if you change to a smaller pully?

but to answet the original question:

It's a good deal, IF and only if you think the install labor is worth $200

Even if you do the install you'll still hafta pay for the reflash ~100 (I did anyways)

So that makes the price difference about $200 more than what I paid. So if you are unable to do the install yourself, than it's not a bad deal, I doubt any other shop would do it for less than that.

The whole install took me abou 2-3 hours, but I enjoy that kinda stuff. So if you aren't into pulling your blower off the car, and doing some hard work. But I bought the PB puller tool, to do mine.

So that makes the diff only about $100. Not bad at all.

You need the puller to get the stock pulley off,, and to press the GM hub back into its place

And no need to reflash again. The GM flash is rich enough for stock, 3", or the 2.8" pulley

I went with colder plugs (~$6-7) just to be safe though

What would make you believe that? If someone told you that they were lying.

You can install your own parts, so long as that particular part doesn't void the warranty.

I have my warranty. No where does it say that GM must install the parts. By doing the reflash they verify that they have inspected the install.

And the reason I bought the puller tool, was incase I ever wanted to swap to a different hub, like the Billetflow system for example. Gonna need the tool to pull and replace hubs
