Stock Dyno Numbers!!
Got my car dyno'd last week....it's a Redline, but still the same motor.....only real mod is my Magnaflow muffler welded in place of the stock muffler.
It was 92 degrees outside & a hot engine didn't help the numbers.....plus I just filled up with 93 octane the night before & only had 30 miles for the PCM to "relearn" (was using 87 octane since January before that)
The guy never held it to redline (6,500) either, unfortunately:
First ever dyno of my car & first time making a video too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0jV0HTfCtE
1st pull, the computer/graph only shows 5,500 RPM, but he says the tach in the car said 6,500 RPM.....bad connection on the spark plug wire that went to the dyno's computer (fixed it after that pull)
2nd pull, the exhaust doesn't sound that great in the video but I swear it sounds better in person
3rd pull, I didn't know he was going and I recorded a little late

I didn't do it for performance anyways......just for a different/louder tone
I was expecting higher numbers actually, but like I said....I'm sure the hot weather didn't help at all.
Plus I lost a few hp, by him not taking it to redline either....oh well
I'll get it dyno'd again in the fall if there's a dyno day or something

Figuring in the standard 15% drive train loss, that about 248hp at the flywheel.
Man, these cars are under rated!
Question though: Why is the hood closed on all your runs?
Should be open so as to avoid engine heat soak.

i was wondering the same thing about the hood being closed. it should be open a fan sitting in front of it. those are actually better numbers then i was thinking. i was hoping to get around 220 with my stage 2 and exhaust when i go and get mine done. now you got my hopes up and im hoping to get more then that lol. GOOD NUMBERS!!!

15% is too high unless he has a LSD. Normal FWD open diff drivetrain loss with a manual is 12%. So 236 horsepower at the crank.

Yeah I have no idea....I was questioning the same thing and wanted it open to keep the engine cooler but he closed it.
I'm gonna have to assume that it was to see the computer because it was like 4-6 feet away from the front of my car & to the side on the passenger side
If you look in the video, he's got his head to the right the whole time during the 1st pull
But there was a big fan in front of the car too....wasn't blowing real hard, but it was there
I just wanted a general baseline...that was all

Just that your video was the first one where I can remember seeing the hood was closed during a dyno run.
