Stock exhaust question

How much would it cost from the dealer to buy and install a stock exhaust for the ss/sc. I just installed a DC Sports Exhaust and when i get tired of that and wanna go back to stock. I want to know how easy that would be.

bump for an answer

Just find someone elses that has an aftermarket exhaust and wants to get rid of their stock exhaust and have a shop weld it back up for you. Youll get ripped otherwise.

the stock exhaust is actually very expensive. i'm sure someone would be more than willing to trade, and give you a few bucks while you're at it. i would try that before you dish out hundreds of dollars. i remember the stock downpipe being something crazy like 450-500, so i would expect the exhaust to be in that range.

The sound. I know that my exhaust on my old Accord got annoying after time. Eventhough it was actually a good sounding Honda, it was still loud. On long trips on the highway, you'll see.

Again, I'll trade you mine plus give you cash. lol. I'm not kidding.

hahaha, yeah it does get on the nerves on long trips./ Damn loud exhaust. That is why this time on the cobalt I went with the GMPP touring.... nothing else, but the quietest I could find...

Why didn't you just keep the old exhaust that you took off the car when you put the new one on? Especially if you had fears that you might want to go back to stock. I know hind sight is 20/20, but seems like a pretty dumb and costly mistake.

First off your talking out of your ass because I still have my my stock exhaust. Its cut but i still have it. Will it still perform halfway decent if its welded back together. Thats why I figured if I needed to go back to stock later to sell the car or something stock, I would have to buy a new one. This is the first time I ever changed out an exhaust so this is an all new experience to me. FYI DC Sports Catback is loud as hell on the SS/SC. Not RICEY loud but just deep and loud lol. I might have to get a silencer for it.

well, the original exhaust is actually welded in half way right before the axle, thats around where i cut mine off at. Just get a used one from someone and you could install it and get some pipe fittings and clamps if you even needed to (which could leak and make annoying noise). A muffler shop can weld it in which is preferrable, but it won't decrease performance.

You could re-use your stock exhaust if that's the direction that you wanted to go. Any reputable exhaust shop can hook you up. If you wanted to go back to stock and was in need of another stock exhaust, like others have mentioned, you should have no troubles finding someone that would hook you up with a perfectly good stocker.

Hell, I have an 07 and would be more then happy to swap with ya. lol...I head out to NY every couple months also. Up to Garrison, next to the Hudson River. Not sure exactly where Beacon is in relation to that. Hope this helps man

I just had my entire exhaust replaced under warrenty (and I mean everything downpipe cat and all) and they showed my the parts list. $1500CDN just for the parts but most of that is the downpipe and cat, I believe the cat back is about $500CDN (The cat was almost $800)
