wow, the stock wheels are not 8.5" wide. they're 7" the tire tread may be that wide, but not the wheel.
and the stock tire size is 215/40/18

My stock Pirelli Pzero Rosso's were 215/45/R18 (Horrible Wheelhopage) Treadpattern on Pirelli Pzero Rossos were perpendicular to the road = horrible wheelhop. I upgraded to BFG G-Force Sport's 235/40/ZR18. HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! MINIMAL WHEELHOP!!! and I cant loose traction in 2nd anymore minimizes traction loss in first as well.

P.S. 215mm = 8.5" (8.4645) 235mm = 9.25" (9.2519)... Not 7"

But with 235/40/18's I dont think you can run lowering springs, might be wrong. I would love to, instead of looking at 225/45/18's. I here you run to much of a risk of rubing with the 235's and lowered.
I have seen pics of lowered on 225's but not 235's.

235 suits me perfectly, I'm not interested in lowing my cobalt. Wheel well gap is same width all around and looks flawless.

Done some looking and messuring, with out rolling the fenders I dont see how one could lower on 235/40/18's. Guess Im gonna stick with picking up 225/45/18's

Probably ignore it...

On the 17's I think the max was 225 but can't be sure...different car=different strokes for different folks but even with 215's on hard turns I could hear some light rub in the wheel wells...maybe I need an alignment. I would think the backs can accomodate wider tires with little if any problem.
