stroking questions

I know another stroker thread geez, well in the past threads, the information is not concrete enough for me, so im starting a new thread,

a little bit of background, both of my blocks have crapped out rods and cranks, so now im curious about stroking, so here it goes

I want to use a 2.2 crank, rods, and pistons, perferable from eagle, but I don't know if its possible,

is the eagle crank using an older model, does it have a relucter ring casted into it,

the 6 to 8 bolt ist that big of a deal, ill figure something out for that but what else is gonna be required to do this, is it even possible

please bear with me as im on my ppc6800 so its not very easy to search the site, as I miss a lot

thanks ahead of time
Joe

The Eagle ring is bolt on and available without a ring.

Are the main bearing journals the same size? and if so, hell the 2.2 rotating assemblies are cheap as hell. Just getting over that 6-8 bolt flywheel problem is a bitch.

Best bet is to take some measurements of the mounting points of the stock reluctor ring (the LSJ one is bolt on as well) and call Eagle for measurements for their ring.

FWIW according to a user on the redline forum, the LSJ ring will bolt to the LE5 crank. The 02-06 L61 crank ring I know is cast, I'm not sure about the newer ones.

I have flywheel, that im gonna drop off at my machinist and see what he can do I figure, even if it costs me a 1000, the extra im saving by getting the 2.2 rotating assembly, will even out, you lnow how long I've been buidling and now im pissed at these 2.0l's lol, so **** it, im changing it lol

time for some phone calls now, see if I can get some measurements,

the bearings are the 2l and the 2.2 were the same part number last time I checked

Ah that's good new, hey also if you order the crank from eagle, see if you can get it drilled for the 8 bolt pattern. That might be the easier way.
Also I know wrist pin height is different btwn the 2 motors, I don't know if that's gonna cause problems due to deck height.
Just a few little things to take into consideration.
But God I hope you can do this, I'll be actually starting my build soon (this time for real when I move lol) and if this works out, **** I'll be doing the same.

Wink

well eagle just shot me down, wow lol,

I called and got told its discontinued, and that the relcuter ring is forged into the crank, hmmmm

but they did make with out it period, so basically the timing was not carved in, so im curious if a guy coulld drill tap it to bolt up the proper ring, I guess the next question is, is it the same exterior size as the 2.0, he wasn't really willing to give much help either

does anyone else make cranks for the 2.2? other than eagle and gm

I spent a few month this winter trying to get a 2.2 crank into the 2.0.

Eagle discontinued their crank and even though I found one still for sale the reluctor ring issue was just too much of a problem to get resolved. You'd have to machine the eagle crank and then bolt on the reluctor ring which also needed to be rotated severel degrees to match up the position of the 2.0 crank reluctor ring position.

The one guy I've seen do it, bolted the reluctor ring outside the engine to the crank pulley and mounted the sensor right by it. Frankenstein looking solution but it worked

Even if it did fit, there is no perfect flywheel clutch match... so more custom work.

Basically, a huge pain in the ass and my builder said spend the money somewhere else.

GM has there $5000 billet crank though it is 2.0L I believe and has 12 bolts for the flywheel. JPB has their billet crank but it is 2.0 as well. past that you are looking at a custom crank.

So I'd recommend spending the money elsewhere. get sleeves, increase cylinder volume, try high compression....

If you can, send me a PM with the stroke of the crank which you are looking for and I will get you a price. I can get my hands on a few different strokes of billet cranks. They are not cheap but I am sure its what you are looking for.

Here are the differences. If you can post here what options are out there I'd love to hear them
