STS possiblity? READ

I thought you guys might be interested in this. I spoke with Dave the V.P. of Sales from Squire Turbo Systems (they develop rear-mounted turbo kits for those who don't know) in regards to a rear-mounted turbo kit. He said they created a one off rear turbo kit for the Cobalt for SEMA this past year, and that they DO currently have generic kits that of course will require some fabbing but would be relatively easy to create aside from tuning. BUT, this is the cool part. He already said he thinks there is DEFINITELY some potential with making a full-production rear turbo kit...the only thing holding them back at this time is the limited tuning available. Whether or not they would utilize the blower making their own "twin-charge" kit or removing the blower and making a custom intake manifold he did not say.

Guys/Gals I think this is something we should definitely continue to pursue, STS is well known for making power while still being relatively cost effective price. Since they already seem interested in producing a kit, showing interest will only spark their interest more.

Not thrilled with a rear mounted turbo setup. Laggy and unprotected from the elements.

Would be interesting to see though.

Interested. I spoke with Street-Graffiti and they have a STS remote turbo on their car. They love it.

I was reading a few articles and suprisingly there reported very little to no lag. My friend is looking to do this to his '46 Dodge. The downsides are that it is somewhat unprotected and more concerns of oil circulation because of the location. There are solutions for both those problems.

Another thing that I think might be a problem is the exhaust up to the turbo, and whether or not it will affect the turbo's abilies and by how much.

Ive not heard really a bad word to say about the STS kits in the F-body or GTO world . The comment made about the elements , from the kits Ive seen they do make every attempt to put the filter in a area less prone to road debris .

It would be a helluva lot easier to twincharge with a STS than craming it all in the engine bay too , thats for damn sure .

just keep in mind that certain racetracks wont let you make a pass with a turbo outside of the engine bay, like pittsburgh raceway park for example, now if we have nitrous supercharger or turbo thats not stock they make you wear a fire jacket to race, its retarded imo

This thread is mostly a big flame fest but some very good points were made through the arguing.

I highly doubt a 15 pound chunk of cast steel (turbo) is going to rust away under your car. No worries IMHO.

Hoosier Performance on Indy's West side has a Silverado SS in their shop with one of the turbo kits on it. Pretty cool looking. Apparently the tranny didn't like the extra power. Pardon the crapola cam phone pics.

STS Twin turbo setup on a 05 C6.

As you can see there are 4 pipes exiting the back of the car. Two pipes are actually exhaust pipes and 2 pipes are comming from the wastegates. Produced 500whp on 3 psi yes i said 3.

that twincharged c6 looks NUTS...that thing prolly puts down retarded numbers...looks clean too. the only thing that would hold me back from getting the rear-mount is $$...but that would hold me back from twincharging regardless of its location
