Smile Stupid question but here we go!!

Hi all! This is my first time posting, and with a hilarious question LOL! But I don't care of the reactions. Here is the question:

When you open the hood, you can see on the supercharger a connector, a kind of electrical link to the supercharger I guess. If you disconnect it, does this DISABLE the supercharger? I mean, will this avoid the supercharger to be in operation?

I remember with my old saturn, I had a connector on the A/C compressor and when I disconnected it, the A/C pulley couldnt not spin. I disconnected it sometimes when I didnt want the A/C to turn on when turned on defrost.

That's it now you can laugh!

No. You have to take the belt off but then your alternator isnt going to charge your battery. Most likely your car wont run right with senors disconnected.

Definatly a different question but there is no switch to turn the supercharger on and off, it's always on.

Your Air Con has a switch to turn it on and off hence you were able to disengage it.

Your A/C plug was to operate the A/C compressor clucth which is an elector magnet and when you turn on th A/C it engages the clutch to spin the compressor.

Your SC has no such clutch and is a direct drive off the belt. Now if I remember correctly there are a few companies out there that DO in fact make a clutch for the SC so you can turn it off and on like on some Mercedes. But my question is why the heck would you want to do that? I mean the 2.0 without the blower is only good for what about 120hp? Thats about 90 to 100 hp at the wheels! The car wouldn't be able to get out of its own way.

Why would I want to do that? Hahahaha!! For stupidity purpose! Nah... I was just curious to know what was the purpose of that connector, simply. Thanx to you all for your answers!

Thanks jack for explaning that in technical terms I'm just simple minded when it comes to that.

A supercharger clutch, I wonder where the switch will be for that?

There are quite a few supercharger running around the road that HAVE the electromagnetic clutch.. our car just is not one of them

You would only save a very slight amount in fuel economy (the reason they did it).. and then realized there is such a small benefit that its not worth the cost of adding that part.

It takes less than 0.5hp to drive your SC when just cruising down the road...

Here is the mercedes unit that was mentioned...

Ditto, But you should not dissconnect your A/C in the winter time. The reason it runs when you turn the defroster on is to circulate the refrigerant and oil in the system to keep it properly lubricated.

NO it does not kill the supercharger. I mistakenly crossed the sensors one day putting the supercharger back on. I believe with the sensors unhooked it will throw the cel almost instantly as it did when I had them crossed. Just makes the car run like ****.

The sensor popped loose on mine shortly after I had stage 2 installed, threw my car into limp mode and had to have it towed (since I didn't notice it hanging loose).

If you unplug the BBV electrical connector it will limit the boost to a few PSI. I know it did this in my Buick at least. I've not tried it on this car.
