now i went against my own rule by posting more...

seriously ... lately this board is turning into a troll/flame fest... and less of a site to get useful information..

Yes. That kit comes with a code that the dealer needs so it can reflash your computer.

Owwww...exhaust theory...fun. I think my dad's 400hp trailblazer SS has a 3" exhaust. Like many people said, too big for a 4-cylinder for a few reasons.

If people want more information regarding exhaust sizing, check out the following article, it's an interesting read and it makes a lot of sense. Pay particular attention to the "Pipe Sizing" section and read why bigger is not necessarily better (but only in this case!)

http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscella...austtheory.htm

Happy reading!

For engines making 250 to 350 horsepower, the generally accepted pipe diameter is 3 to 3.5 inches.

That exhaust article was written by Ricers who put 4" exhausts on their 100hp engines. Cobalts don't need anything over 2 1/4" Take a close look at the stock exhaust manifold, i's no bigger than 1.75" and the stock downpipe is no bigger than 2.00" at the start. Even if you buy the Pacesetter header, the opening at the collecter of the ball is 2 1/4", although the collecter is a 3". So the only way to enjoy the benefits of a 3" exhaust is to have ported heads, custom header, custom 3" downpipe, at least 400hp and then the 3" catback exhaust.

Just my 2 cents

HAHAHAH

and while we're at it everyone should throw some apc stickers on .. that'll make it so all of our cars are ready for a 3" exhaust... well be pushing out all tens of horsepowers and we all need triple decker wings then we might need to go 3.5 or 4 in

(no offense to the OP intended)

Ugh....bigger is not always better. Exhaust systems are designed to get exhaust the **** out of your car and away from you. You have to find that critical point between getting the exhaust out as quickly as possible while it's still HOT (hot = less dense) and having a pipe large enough to facilitate this without letting the exhaust cool down so much that the exhaust becomes less dense and does not flow out.

What's the mystery here? Too big means exhaust is not rushing out due to a confined space which means that the exhaust cools too much which is not good for performance.
