supercharger flutter?!!?

ok so if anyone had this problem i figured out what it was

i wasnt running the boost bypass cause i have a special hptuners cobalt-addiction tune and i had no problems with my boost up untill the other day

i had 17lbs of boost at full throttle and when i hit 5400rpm it started to drop and by the time i was at 7400 it was at 10psi

the stock boost bleeder on 05's it seems cannot support 20lbs or more without breaking the internals and letting out massive amounts of boost I am the second person to see this problem that i know

soo i dont know about anyone else but i have to leave the boost bypass on even with my tune
so i dont loose massive amounts of boost

what does this sound like, flutter that is? Since, I installed my CAI my sc has been making a sound when at a quarter throttle that sounds like a bristle brush across a ruff surface but when I go wot it stops. Is this what your talking about, or something diff/normal?

your belt could be slipping, have u upgraded anything else besides the pulley? belt? tensioner? that sounds like your problem b/c the boost is slipping off at a higher rpm b/c it is getting harder to turn the s/c that fast

ok i had a reg belt and tensioner and i thought it was slipping so i moved it to the max position and i still got flutter so i went out anf bought a stg 2 belt and it still didnt fix it and i thought it was slippage at first as well

i unbolted the supercharger and intake plenum to see if my gaskets were shot and they were not sooooo i said to myself why dont i look at the boost bleeder

i then took apart the boost bleeder to realize the internals were shot

what are you reving to? is 7400 what you set the limiter at? I have the HPtuner on order and i was going to set it at 7300 but if higher has been safe and it still makes power up there i will set it higher.

I know that suxs dude... but you were runnin 100% boost in all gears anyway, so its not gonna have much of an effect doin the bypass mod... I"ll see if I can get you a rebuild kit if you want... and I know there is no way in hell that belt is ever gonna slip again.... I could barely get that **** on....

Mine is set at 7400. I don't get heat soak from the revs, I get it from the pulley. Which I guess is a result of the revs....
