Supercharger- ported and powder coated

Hey guys,

I'm finally back from Kuwait and I get to drive my car!!! Now to the reason for this post. I sent my supercharger in to Magnum powers to get ported, powder coated, and to have the snout machined down and the gains are awesome. Right now I'm seeing boost at 18 lbs with only a 2.8" pulley. The powder coat came out pretty good except they couldn't put the small section in between the snout and the main part of the supercharger in the oven so the paint is coming off.

I plan on going to Intense to get dyno tuned with 60# injectors and a 2.5 inch pulley. I'm going to need a new gauge because I will definitely be over 20 Lbs. Charles at Magnum Powers did a great job. Pricing will depend on what you want done. The gains are impresive now, but the real gains come when you can overspin the blower by using a larger crank pulley. You can easily spin at 18,000 rpms with an aggresive porting job.

I can but I had to have it prompt me for a security certificate that it could not verify. You may want to host them on a non military server.

yah with that ported supercharger you'll boost alot more with a 2.8" pulley than a 2.8" pulley on a non ported supercharger, lot better airflow. im thinking about getting mine ported over the winter when i put my car away.

the bad side of powder coating is it keeps heat in the s/c which will kill some power

even with the intercooler

but they do look nice when done right

i dont see no pics

Looks great man. Did you do happen to get a baseline dyno before the charger was ported and powdercoated?

The pic is in his garage for those who still can't find it

It should take about a week plus shipping. Check out www.magnumpowers.com the phone # and email should be on the website.

isn't overspinning the charger a bad idea because it might cause damage to it internally ? or have you made it tougher somehow ?

Overspining it would be a bad idea if it's not ported. Our blower is strong enough the run at 24,000 rpm if you port it to breath that much. There is an 3.0 NSX with a a ported m90 at 500 Hp with the help of overspining the blower. The M90's stock top rpm is 12,000, but because of porting and a larger crank pulley it can spin at 18,000. Considering our engine and our blower are 2/3 the size of the NSX's we could expect 2/3 of the gains. With internal strengthening we could easily see 330Hp.

Just an update- I took my car out today and I'm seeing almost 20lbs. I'm at the line right before it, so I guess 18.5 or 19lbs.

If you are reading those numbers of the stock gauge, I'd be a little weary. From what I understand they are not very accurate at stock boost levels, let alone at the numbers you are seeing.

If you're on a scan gauge or mechanical gauge, than disregard.

Either way it looks amazing man, I may look into this eventually. I just don't think I could handle the down time.
