supercharger pulley really really hot?

I'm thinking that's not normal for the supercharger pulley to be hot enough to burn your hand? I just replaced the coupler and put everything back on. I had it running so I could check everything and add coolan. After about 5 mins I heard a weird squeaking noise and saw it was the belt tensioner pulley. I shut it down and noticed the belt was super hot. I checked the pulleys and noticed the the supercharger pulley wad hot as hell, hot enough black from the belt was coming off. The snout and supercharger felt normal. I have a zzp stage 3 with around 8k miles and never seemed to have this problem, although I never felt the pulley before and all those other times the belt never left residue.

Could the belt be out or alignment? Something wrong with the supercharger snout?

If i would have left my hand on there for more than 3 seconds it would have. It just seemed unusually warm for 5 mins or running, but like I said I never checked it before.

No CEL and the noise was from the belt tensioner pulley. I was going to try it all again but now I can't get the belt on. I'm having an awesome day lol.

The belt could be, I didn't drive it so the engine wasn't under load so I couldn't tell. It has the bigger zzp tensioner pulley though.

If the belt or pulley is out of alignment, it will cause friction on the belt, heating it up.

You said that you replaced the supercharger coupler, is it possible that the snout/pulley is just a bit out of alignment? That would also cause the black residue coming off the belt, since it is hot and rubbing off center on the s/c pulley.

My first thoughts anyway.

I was thinking something like this. It all went on pretty smooth. What would you suggest to fix that, taking the snout back off and and trying again?

Just thinkin off the top of my head but could you be off one rib one one of the pulleys? It might put the belt at enough of an angle that it cause exceess friction.

After double checking everything again this morning it looks like the culprit was the belt being off one rib on the ac compressor. I had it running for 20 mins and the belt was cool and the supercharger pulley was only slightly warm. Thanks for the help everyone, I feel like an idiot for such a simple fix lol

The existing tension in the belt I would presume.

^ Word. It's under tension and still has 5 ribs holding it on the pulley. It's not going to slide anywhere.
