UPDATE:
I was planning on just pulling the head off, taking off the oil pan and swapping pistons out.... after i did that, i decided that i wanted to get the rotating assembly balanced..... got that done and now i realized that the main and rod bolts are both torque to yield.... since i was not anticipating doing this, i did not order the new bolts.... called 5 diff chevy dealerships, and the part has to be special ordered 3-5 days.... so i guess ill be finishing this weekend.... i have more pics coming of the motor out and it taken apart....

congrats on what looks to be a decent build. Be sure to measure those supertech vavle springs before you put them in the head. When I measured mine, they were 100lbs at the install height instead of 78lbs like they should have been. Because of that, it chewed up my retainers and rocker arms. Luckily supertech is going to replace all that for free, but just be careful cause there is a race set of springs designed for solid lifters, not the stock hydraulic lifters.

oh yea, got any flow numbers on that head?

unfortunatley i dont..... thx for the advice.... what i found funny is that the machine shop told me that the pistons, flywheel, and harmonic balancer were on the money. The only thing they took a little bit away from where the rods and the crank.... so i coulda slapped the pistons on with no prob pretty much

If its a 4-banger, there is no reason to have it balanced.
