Angry Thermostat q..

So, here's the story:

I left my car in Phoenix at a friends friends house while I flew home for Christmas..I left the keys with my friend so he could start it every couple days or so while I was gone. He calls me and asks if I want his friend to look at it and see if there was any work needed to be done. I said no, don't touch my car. Well, I text him about a week later, see how my car is doing. He says his friend looked at my car and it pulled a few codes...I'm confused as hell because it did not have a CEL when I left, and why would they even **** with my car...then he tells me that his friend is saying my thermostat is stuck open and its not properly warming up and some other crap. Thank god I go back tomorrow and get my car out of there.

If you made it through the story, my question is what are my options on the thermostat, and whats a good site to go through?

I did find a little info, but none other than stock replacements online. I found stock is a 180*....so whats a good thermostat to run? I've got Stage 2 on my car...

And: Im pissed that I told him not to **** with my car, and they did anyways.

I don't know too much about thermostats but would you be able to just pick one up from autozone?

Anyways that's really messed up he touched it. I'd be pissed.

They drove it. Only way that code comes on is when the car is driven and the PCM cycles.

It may have come on when they started it.

Here's why the code may have come on...

On Wednesday of that week, it snowed out in 29 Palms, Ca. My air filter decided to suck up all the snow on the road lol. Code came on right when I got back to base. Thursday I changed the filter out for a new one, code went away. Drove car to Phoenix (4 hours or so) and no code, ran fine, alot better actually....old filter needed replaced bad anyways...Saturday I left the car with him.

That was over a week ago. Dont know when they started it, or when they fucked with it. Just found out tonight. Yay New Year huh.

im guessing the code they had was p0128, engine warmup too long, meaning that it took longer then it should have for the motor to warm up. my car had this code, never turned the CEL on. there is a bullitin about it, cant remember what the fix is.

Find out what the code is and let us know. I doubt your thermostat is stuck open, but if that is the case go ahead and just replace it. Your first step is having someone scan the codes, while you are there and letting us know what they are. If we find out that it is your thermostat, obviously replace it. If it's not, you have nothing to worry about. Obviously watch your coolant temp though as you are driving your car to make sure it doesn't raise above your normal temp.

It's pretty messed up that your friends messed with your car though. Also, your cold air intake didn't suck up any snow lol. It's impossible for it to .

P0128 led me to a mangled t-stat.
Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Below Thermostat Regulating -PCM
this is the result of my t-stat.

my car wasnt heating up properly, it would take forever, and once up in temps, as soon as i would start to move, the temps would drop down hard.

The coolant temp is always 180-185. Warms up a bit more when it sits in a drive thru for a couple min though.

I'll find out tonight whats going on with it. Thanks for the help!
