think i blew up my engine
think i blew up my engine
my 07 ss/sc is setting a #4 misfire code, plug keeps fouling out with oil
#1 cyl has 150psi compression and i have 85psi on #4
the idle is very rough
when i get hard on it, it pops the dipstick up and blows oil out the stick...
any ideas?

#4 rings are gone. Blowby.
If you can get the head off, and the oil pan off, you might be able to take the connecting rod off the crankshaft from through the oil pan, then the piston and rod should come up through the top.
Rods really aren't needed... The stock lsj rods were rated over 350hp, way more than what you establish with the M62. A nice set of forged wiseco or diamond pistons at stock compression will be all he needs.
**** on stock compression go up to 10 or 10.5 i went 10 and it was worth it
Figure about $800 in parts (600 for pistons and 200 in gaskets/fluids) minimum, and the swap can be done in a weekend if you are mechanically inclined. Pull the head and front cover, drop the oil pan, pull the rod/piston out the top.
you dont need to pull the front cover just use the timing marks on the balancer and the cover
How do you know the chain is on the correct link/mark spot with the cover on? It takes 30 min tops to pull the front cover and put it back if you are already that far in. It takes many hours and more money to correct missed timing or possibly bent valves.
Sure, you do that...
