For those with airbox mod...
Just curious if anyone is seeing hp loss.. I just read an article over at .com saying they experienced 5-10hp loss with a drop in K&N.. I certainly didn't experince any loss in power when I had my drop in filter on, but I shaved off the airbox. Anyone have numbers to prove that wrong?
no dyno sheets handy but
@1700mi 1st dyno pull ever 102degree outside
216/189tq
@2250mi spectre uni air filter no lid on box 99 degree
219/191
same dyno
and the numbers were high/low all right around those figs
i averaged them all and came up with the numbers in my sig
my highest run ever was 223.2 and 192.1 tq
so my 218.4that i claim has been average with 6 dyno runs so i feel pretty confident that that is my average whp

If the non-direct fit K&N was used in a stock airbox I could easily see why there would be a HP loss. But if it is put on a cut airbox I don't know how it could make you lose HP.
In the stock air box the filter you need to make work is way to big, the stock filter and drop in K&N has all 360 degrees exposed in the box.
