Question throttle body?

hey all i was wondeirng if a 2.2 ecotec throttle body would fit on cobalt SS i have a nice one in my room never used. it is the 65mm in diameter but it will give a 10+ hp gain, and mabe even better with a nice intake.

i don't think it's going to make much of a difference unless you port out the inlet of the s/c housing. i didn't look toohard, but they seem to be matched up pretty good.

maybe a combination T/B S/C housing porting would be a nice little improvement over stock

i'm sure the stock 2.0 sc t/b is around 65mm, what i would do is try to modify an ls1 75mm tb on it that would be a nice tq increase as well as a nice hp increase.

LS1 is not drive by-wire like cobalt SS is... i would look into L32 TB which is 75mm... but wiring could be a problem...

I know we use to cut up stock TB plate pole on L67 and gain 10whp like that... maybe that can be done to stock cobalt TB...

We were looking into a billet TB but the stock throttle body is specially contored inside so that over the first few degrees of throttle movment there is very little air flow change. Since there is no IAC motor the ECU varies the throttle position to control idle speed. A larger drive by wire TB may be possible (some LS1's are drive by wire) but it will have to have the same internal shape and will require an ECU reflash to maintain good idle

I have used Mike's stuff on DSM's before. Awesome products, and will be looking forward to anything he can throw at the Cobalt.
