Throttle Body Spacer
ours is a 69mm, i took the tb spacer out of my cavalier, it fit, kind of, but the hole wasnt big enough, and also the bolts didnt quite match up, however, being aluminum, it is pretty easy to drill, i had my moms boyfriend, who works with a cnc machine attempt to fix this problem, boring it out, however he had to make a thread tool to re-do the thread....... i think he only bored it out to a 66mm though, so i dont know if it would help, the only problem with the stock hole in it out of the cavalier was that the throttle plate hit the bottom of the hole.....
yeah, 69mm is pretty larger, however in theory, this is mine of course, the tb spacer makes the air spin faster correct? now i figure the faster the charger is sucking the air through the tb spacer, causeing it to move faster, there would be a decent gain, i mean its cheap power, it made a big difference on my cavy, i also had an intake too, i think i will ask for the intake for the ss for xmas this year, as i dont really want to spend the money on it right now, id just figure that it would help a little........ correct me if im wrong, we'd also see a little difference in the gas mileage as well
A TB spacer on a S/C application is worthless. On something with MPI it you will only see a gain if it is increasing the size of a very small plenum like the ones used on a SOHC 4.6 Mustang GT.
Or
If it is being used on a TBI or Carburated application where the small increase in the time the fuel and air mixes helps alot.

on a sc fuel injected engine, a spacer has as much a chance of doing harm as good. where you are gonna see gains is port matching the throttle body, sc housing, and basicly the whole intake side of the engine. the actual diameter (69mm, 66mm) isnt as important as the whole thing lining up right so that there are no sudden changes in diameter where the various parts come together. has anyone done a good port and polish on these engines yet? would be interesting to see how mcuh there is to gain.
throttle body spacers do absolutely NOTHING for a fuel injected engine.
They only serve a purpose on carbureted engines.
TB spacers were made to help the air and fuel mix more efficiently before going in to the motor through the carburetor (reason for the thread like shape inside the tb), where your motors air and fuel are mixed after the throttle body, directly in to your engine.

well, it was good, kind of
So, you want a larger throttle body.....

throttle body spacers are already on the market for some of these. not all of them? not sure why, they all bolt up the same.
airaid makes tb spacers that WILL work for the following throttle bodies, which bolt onto the lsj.

now that you have the tb and spacer. you also need a 3.5 inch to 2.5 inch coupler. hose techniques has them in stock. it's a rare size, so it's not easy to find.
if this is done right, you can have less then 100 dollars in the mod
