Time to upgrade need some help please.

Well it's time to upgrade and add some power to my car. First off I own a 2004 Ion Redline and she's just about to roll over 90,000 miles. She runnin strong and is still on the stock clutch and she still hold pretty darn good. I'm runnin a K&N intake, ZZP catless DP to a GMPP touring catback. I was originaly gonna go with a 3.0" and 42's so pretty much what my old cobalt had. But now I'm thinking I want to run a 2.8" and 60's and an H/E. My question is am I putting the car to the test with how many miles I have and I'm worried my Clutch isn't going to like it. I don't mind replacing it eventually but right now Id rather not have to bother. I don't beat on my car much just a few pulls every now and then. Never take it to the track and don't really plan to but maybe once to see what I can do. When I had my Balt I was half a car behind my buddy with his 04 GTO with headers and a tune. I could never get him from a 45mph roll and it bugged the crap outta me. Now he has an 05 CTS-V with just exhaust and if I can get him by a nut hair from 45 I'd be happy And I'm sick of damn mustangs and camaros pulling up thinking they are the ****. I know if I go 2.8" and 60's this is possible but if I go the 3.0" and 42's I'll be right back to what I had with my cobalt. If I do go 60's with the 2.8" Ill most likley just get a can tune. I don't have the money to throw out for a wideband and custome tune. So if I go 60's, 2.8" with a can tune will I be safe with the milage on my car? Or should I just stick with the 42's and 3.0" and be safe and run safe but decent power. Be honest I don't mind Im just looking for safe reasonable power that will last me and make the car more fun to drive. Thanks in advance and this forum has never failed me before so hopefully everyone will help me out a bit.
