Timing Chain!

Has anyone ever did one? If so what is the most common thing that goes bad? Im just trying to save a little money if I dont have to replace everything in there Let me know! Thanks.

never really seen one having a problem. ive heard the early ecotecs (02 and 03 iirc) had issues with the chain oiling causing them to snap, but heard nothing about a newer one.

Apparently there is a tsb for it my car doesnt fall under the criteria. Im taking it to the dealer on monday, but I have to many aftermarkets mods so I just want them to tell what is wrong so I dont have spend the money I dont have too...fixing **** that isnt broke.

When you replace a chain you will also want to replace the crank gear, and 2 cam gears, OEM parts are fine. You never want to install a new chain on old gears. Check the guides also to make sure they are not woren out while you are in there.

I have never heard *yet* of a chain going bad on an ecotec, we have been around them for about 6 years now...

I've never heard that either thats why Im thinking its just the tensior is prolly the problem

The timing chains in our cars don't necessarily go bad, it's the chain tensioner that we have had issues with.

Yea, the pics in my gallery are stock no mods. I got some newer pics I can put in there, check 'em out

I cant seem to figure out how to delete the old pics and put new ones in there sorry.
