timing chain issue

Im trying to put my timing chain ack on my car, i followed the gm build book and the book i got from the gm website from work...i hae done everything the book told me to do, all the links match up to the right spots and everything. But when i go to turn the motor over the chain gets loose right as it gets to the crank gear. Im turning the motor counter clockwise as if it were running.

What could be the problem here? I know everything is where it should be, the tensioner is working fine, i dont know what could be wrong here.

How many times do u have to turn the engine over for the links to line up with the gears again? I know that the balance chain the links have to go back to their original position like 3 or 4 times before they line up again.

I just did mine last week at my work. The links are only there for set up purposes and will never line up again. You don't want any slack on the intake side before u even install and release the tensioner. If you turn the motor twice (clockwise never counter-clockwise) your cam gears should line up where they were when you had the timing marks all aligned. As for the slack issue make sure all your guides are in and the tensioner is release!

everythings in the right way, we checked over that like times. there was no slack at all on the intake side of the chain and the INT diamond and EXH triangle meet up each rev, but there is a little slack when u turn it. Is that because its not being turned fast enough, since im only doing it by hand?
