Timing Help!

I finally got my car all back together and now i'm trying to get it in time and it's not working. I cant get the crank timing mark at 5 o'clock and the cams at 2 and 10 by using the marks on the chain. The arrows on the cams are at about 11 and 2ish when the crank is at 5 and if I move the exhaust cam to 10 then it isnt on the mark on the chain anymore. I was wondering if you have to use those marks or if theres an easier way to do this. Any help would be great.
thanks

Are you putting a wrench on the exhaust cam and persuading it into the sweet spot while a friend slides the exhaust cam gear on? Thats the easiest way to do it.

This, and it won't quite be at 10 until you put the tensioner in.

I have that 300hp book but I cant find it. I talked to a guy at GM and he told me just to get it at TDC and then just match the marks on the cams with the marks on the chain and I'll b fine. Does that sound right? Also, when I went to put my cam sensor back in it isn't exactly straight up when its at TDC so I was wondering if that would matter. thanks

The links and triangles should line straight up, as well as the mark and colored link at the 5 o'clock position. Triangles should be in the direct center of each link.
