Tips for insuring a good seal on down pipe

I'm putting on a new down pipe tomorrow and I was wondering if there's anything specific I should do other than putting on new gaskets to insure a tight seal? I cant stand the sound of an exhaust with leaks.

what i did was tighten it down ( and the rest of exhaust) let th ecar run for a min... then re-tighten everything... i dont know if thats the right way to do it, but it worked for me... hope it works

tighten each bolt equally all the way down til they are both tight. same concept as putting your wheels back on and tightening the lug nutzzzzzz
