Tires

Ok, everybody start laughing....but my best et thus far has been 14.4. (before my midlength combo and exhaust). Still REALLY SUCKS THOUGH. I do however, buy the cheapest tires I can find off of tire rack.com. 95 dollars a pop. My question is ....with my current mods and better tires shouldn't I be in the 13s????

I need new tires and this is my chance. What are the best tires for the price? I'm a college student so I would like to see a good suggestion for less than 150-160. Also is my track time suffering so bad from my cheap tires?

possibly depending on how much you spin going down the drack...i have nearly the same setup as you and i'll be running the drag strip in a few weeks....stock i ran a 14.9 while spinning 1-2-3 gears before it finally grabbed...best tires are the BFGKDW2's...if you stay at 215/40 18 tires they cost you about 153 a tire....go for 225/40 18's tho

how hot was it when you ran and how was your launch. Lots of guys are posting great numbers with drag radials at the track, but you can't just drop the clutch because you could snap an axle or destroy the transmission. Heat will destroy your performance with less dense air and really hot IAT2's your car might already be pulling timing which equates to power. Engine mounts help a lot to reduce wheel hop. Wheel hop and spin is also your enemy at the strip.

Lots of stage 2 guys barely got to the 13 range before any mods like a full exhaust, etc... If i were you i'd see what your car runs now before you spend more money on it just to be sure of your performance changes.

tires for the price, i'm not sure, but i have heard lots of praise about Bridgestone Potenzas, i had ecsta 712's on my jetta and they were worse than my all season tires, but cornering was a little better, lol.

I'm hoping to buy some Yokohama advan AD07's when i need a new set, but those run a pretty penny

Kumho ecstas work well for me. I barely spin even first since I went turbo with them.

yea Maple Grove raceway was verry slick the night i went up...they had practice for some of the trophy class drags up there as well so i think that contributed to the slick track alot

i only had one run so forgive me for the poor r/t...an i wasnt full throttle till it grabbed as well....
R/T .566
60' 2.425
330 6.469
1/8 9.738
MPH 74.75
1000 12.568
1/4 14.935
MPH 95.67

how high above sea level are you? You could definatly knock some off your 60ft which would help but only traping 95-96mph with those mods isn't good...something is off.
