torque damper issue

I just put on my TD today and drove around tonight. I can hear a sound coming from the engine (sounds like metal rubbing metal) at a stop light. then it gets louder in first and second and start of third. I opened the hood and checked the damper, it kinda moves side to side, but it was able to do that from the start. the bolts are tight. Do I need to stiffin the damper?

when you say side to side, the piston moves up and down the rods? or the whole assembly moves between the brackets?

check the bolts again thats about the only problem you could really have...I have the ingalls tq dampner but I'm getting ready to go to the solid mount...the ingalls helps some but not completely.

i like my ingalls, looks cooler than the solid mount...lol and both pretty effective

besides, i'm not flooring as much as i used to, so wheel hop isnt a big issue any more. the ingalls works fine for what i want

For certain people it works out just fine...but I go to the drag strip quite often...wheel hop is not that enjoyable of a thing.

The whole unit can wiggle a bit side to side. but not up and down. the mounting plates dont move either. I well check this in the morning again.

You sure its not just the vibrations? Mine sounds a little like that, metal grinding, only at idle and at low RPMs, it's just the vibes.

Can you move your TD in any direction even if its only a little bit? I hope thats not what its supposed to sound like because it really sounds bad, louder than the supercharger whine. I havet gone WOT yet because I was afraid something might be wrong under the hood. I got out of my car with the engine running and put my head next to it. It almost sounds like it os coming from inside the block under the valve cover right next the the TD

I just put it on at the set length that it came. but I twisted it some by hand yesterday and it looks like it got longer. should I use a tool at twist until I cant twist anymore?

Come on man, I drag my car all the time. All I have is an Ingall's and KDW2's. No wheelhop what so ever. Cutting 2.1 60's

it only justs by a difference of lke 4-5 mm, so i don't think it "looks" any longer, otherwise there's probably something wrong.

if you're gong to adjust it, make sure you to it off the car. unbolt one side at least.

ok I will do that. Now, do I twist that bronze nut/ring at the end of the cylinder? or twist the cylinder and the connecting bracket then just move the locking nut down?
