Torque Dampers

Hey guys,

So, this car is a bitch to launch as you all know Anyways I was looking at the torque dampers and I did a TON of reading on them. I read that some users experience their clutches going bad soon after and crazy vibrations... I don't mind vibrations as long as it isn't crazy and I understand our clutches suck supposedly. Anyways anybody experience those things?

Thanks

Don't get em. Get OTTP Rotated Transmission Mounts either which stage you want to get and what mods you have in your car. They are worth every penny that I ever spent and they help the car to make it SO MUCH EASIER to DRIVE! First time I put it on it vibrate very little then when it start breaking out then VERY little vibrate you will not noticed it. It's your money, you decide what you want to do with it.

I have an Ingalls TD installed and I don't notice any wheel hop, great mod to get IMO. Now if someone could figure out how to make the car drive better in 1st gear with a ceramic clutch that would be great.

those torque dampners are a waste of money now the 90% of the wheel hop is caused by the control arm bushing thare soft and allow the a-arm to move around and constantly change angles when under a heavy load like launching or under hard acceleration years ago we used polly a-arm bushings as a temp fix but after time they would just get destroyed then mr powell came out with hos spherical control arm bushings that were used in the time attack cobalt and that was a permament fix to the a-arm movement and cured most of the wheel hop now when you combine the spherical bushings with powell mounts or even lnf mounts(they have a much stiffer insert in them)you pretty much eliminate wheel hop
but with a fwd app its always going to be there to a point but the more you can control it I.E. refining how you launch the car and by replacing the weak links in the suspension the less chance you have of getting wheel hop

I had a Ingalls t.d. & switched to a TTR upper mount and was very pleased.

TTR upper mount > Ingalls t.d.

Then, I put powell stage 1 rotated mounts on and again

TTR upper mount with stage 1 powell rotated mounts FTW!!

had bad hop when I got my sc back in the day, first thing I did was buy into the ingalls td, gotta say though it was money well spent because it did eliminate and still does 5 years later BUT if I launch really hard and let it spin too long the hop comes, though that is easy to manage, dont spin for long haha. I do want to get rotated mounts and all that down the road for sure. All this depends on if car sells of course.

So it's just a mixed result? I am stock right now and don't plan on doing any stage tunes. I commute in this car lol. Where can i get the bushings instead of the dampers?

so lower control arm bushing alone is effective?

I tried OTTP rotated mounts but they still give me too much vibration with AC on so I'm back to stock

Ingalls TD made a big difference for me in regards to wheel hop.

Haven't compared it to anything OTTP has or anyone else for that matter.. but I know I've had mine on for 3+ years and it was well worth it for me

I'm not knockin OTTP cuz they sell some good parts, BUT, OTTP's rotated mounts are a copy of the powell design. I had powell mounts and had no extra vibrations at any time

I've got the ZZP rotated trans mounts, and factory upper mount. NO wheel hop. I do have vibrations at idle, and starting out in 1st but not really bothersome to me.

I was thinking of doing an upgraded upper mount but I don't want the car to be come a rattlebox as a result.

Yeah, ZZP don't have rear transmission mount spacers. OTTP does and it helps to make it way less wheel hop.
