Question Traction issues....

To start off, I do not have the LSD. I hit 1,000 miles today so I decided to go full throttle on my car all the way. I started off slow in first but then went all the way to the floor, no chirping but picking up speed. as I reach around 5800rpm-6500rpm, I break traction without letting off the gas or putting the clutch in.

Does anybody else experience this?

The Pirelli's are a very sticky tire, there aren't many street tires that will be better.

Anything but a drag radial in this size will have a hard time hooking up due to the very small sidewall.

You don't need to look at a tire with more grip because its not going to help, you need to look at wider rims along with tires.

The rims gotta be bigger then 16s... Our spare is a 16 and it just barely fits. And im pretty sure the cavy bolt pattern is a little different.

The Cavi bolt pattern is 5x110, the SS bolt pattern is 5x115...

I don't think you are breaking traction. First time I ran my SS WOT in 1st I discovered that the engine builds revs so fast that the tach does not keep up and you hit the rev limiter when the needle reads 58-5900 RPM. My buddies 06 GTO has the same problem. Took me a little practice to time 1st-2nd shift under power to avoid this problem...if you can really call it a problem.

I would have to agree. You would have to use NOS to be at WOT the entire way and all of a sudden break traction when you are that far into your power band. thats if the roads are dry.

I too have bounced it off the rev limiter

i have trouble not chirping from a start in my base model. i do try sometimes though but even taking it easy the car seems to like breaking free a little. I had 1980 rx7 and it too liked to squeal. the again a lead foot never helps the saddest traffic stop i ever got was "exhibition driving" (in a 1987 subaru hatchback) it was a total accident this time. Puddle plus front wheel drive while leaving an oily gas station=chirping oh well

I have the LSD and I've never had that happen. I have 2117 miles, but it also only hits like 11 Psi of boost. I can't seem to reach 12.5 Psi. I have to talk to the dealer about it. I've broke traction a little when shifting from first to second, but it only happens for less than a second. I haven't driven a non-LSD'd SS, so it would be interesting to see what it's like.

My SS chirps both tires for a split second when shifting 1-2. I have done it on accident more than once.
