Tranny VERY jerky!!!

Ok, I have had my 07 SS/SC for about 2 months. I love it, but the tranny is jerky as hell. In 1st gear it gets rediculous. The clutch seems very tachy. I had someone else who has had a manual their whole life drive it and they even said it didn't seem normal. What could be causing this? or are all cobalts like this???

First gear is for getting the car moving thats it once the car gets to 10mph which is 3k rpms shift to second and stay there the rest of the way. All Cobalt SS S/C are like this. First gear is very short and the torque on the car makes it jump up and down the place.

Yeah first gear can be weird. You'll get this jerky feeling. I usually just push the clutch back in and shift to second since the rpms are high enough

it comes with practice.

a very short first gear + sport clutch + plenty of low torque + fwd + soft mounts = GENTLE footwork.

yeah screw first gear if your gonna ride in it you can't push down on the gas but no too hard..... just let it roll. If you it some gas then let off it will just hop up and down.

Alright thanks guys. Also, have been shifting at 3-3500 and the 1st to 2nd shift has tightened up. No slipping.

Awesome!
