The truth about Stage 1 and Stage 2
The truth about Stage 1 and Stage 2
Ok, I know this is a lie, but I was looking through the GM Performance cataloge yesterday and they have the Stage 1 and Stage 2 listed in there as putting out 236 and 241 hp. Now, I know that is crap, and I was wondering what the true numbers are, because if they are that close, why would they even charge like almost $300 more for 5 more hp? That just stupid.
I know there was an article in a magazine, and at the wheels their Cobalt dynoed at I think it was 196whp, and with stage 2 it dynoed at 238whp.
I have no idea about stage 1, in my opinion, just go for the glory and get stage 2 to start with, cause if you are having the dealership install it, you will save money by having them work on it once instead of twice.

So I wonder whos wrong?
Oh, I was never going to get stage 1 anyway, that would be pointless. I'm going straight to 2, I just don't understand their reasoning behing "making 5 more hp" for like $300.
I also got a refund check from my old insurance company (Because I switched to Nationwide like 3 weeks ago) for $250. Next paycheck, GM exhaust, here I come. Which one would yall reccomend?

Stage 1 isn't totally crap. You can buy the stage one to get the injectors and the tune, then buy a after market pulley system and save a little bit of cash. The stage 1 and stage 2 tune is the same. Just my thought.
ekk i was wrong, just looked it up
Stage 1- 236HP and 205lb-ft torque
Stage 2- 241HP and 218 lb-ft torque
but stage 2 also comes with the modular pulley system and smaller belt. And to be honest, its not that stupid of GM, look at how many people on here have bought stage 2 over stage 1.

IDK about the stage kits... but here's something to chew on:
My Mods: Custom Dyno Tune @ Tune Time Performance, ZZP 2.9" S/C pulley, Lucas #42 Injectors, Custom 2.5" Magnaflow Exhaust
The #'s:

Mustang Dyno @ about 40* Farenheight in NJ @ Sea Level
Green is A/F
Red is HP
Light Blue is Torque
*Power to the WHEELS
The Timeslip @ E-Town in NJ:

I would tend to agree. It wasn't until I read the directions for my stage II that I realized the part#'s for the tunes was the same.
"Horsepower sells cars
Torque wins races"
I say this to EVERY Honda owner.
example being the honda civic si
197 hp -----sells cars
139 trq -----loses races

Go with aftermarket and spend the extra money on a sick dyno tune.. you will not regret it.
The stage 2 tune is Pig rich with fuel.. a slightly leaner A/F ratio is gonna make more power. but too lean blows cobalts up. you have to trust the shop that tunes the car
Also, to the same person, you can include my timeslip in that quote. Because I raced a Civic Si Sedan in that race... lightly modded i guess, it trapped 101mph.. but i spanked him.. teach him to nod at me on the line, trying to phase me or whatever.. i think he saw my 17 second pass earlier w/ no traction. must have thought my car was an LS with a fart can!

The only reason I don't go with an after market tune is that I don't have anyone any were close to me that does any type of tunning. I think I will get the stage 1 kit with a modular pulley system with a 2.8 or so pulley to tie me over until I can save up the money for HP Tuners and under stand how to use it aswell.
whan you quote this, please include " quote " -Carrol Shelby
