Turbo build questions

Ok guys. I am in need of some advice again... I've decided to junk the old 62 and go turbo and have a few questions. I was snooping around the other day, after i checked out all the amazing Hahn parts i wish i could afford, and found a turbo kit on ebay that says its for the Cobalt SS. It has about everything you would need to do a turbo install, minus the adaptor plate for the intake manifold, for ridiculously cheap! Is this kit any good at all? I was going to just make all my piping custom but this kit comes with what is advertised all the correct bends needed to do the job with some customization...as is anything in the aftermarket parts world these days.

Should I even bother with it? I guess i could run both the stock intercooler and the one that comes with the kit. It's very complete if you ask me. I was just looking for some helpful input from ppl that actually know

Here is the link...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...#ht_6598wt_941

If that doesn't work just type this into Ebay's search bar: 2005-2007 Chevy Cobalt SS T3T4 Turbo Charger Kit

Do not but a 1000 dollar turbo kit from ebay...

In order to get the cheap ebay kits, you need to find specific products.. not just a "kit"...

The turbo will probably stop working after a few months... although you can buy ebay turbos, and rebuild them, making them just as good as any 800 dollar turbo...

You would be just fine using only the stock intercooler built into the intake manifold...

the turbo could be made to last, once it arrives use a real garret rebuild kit on it, and u should be ok, eveetything else looks ok, has a ecotec turbo manifold, if you know to work with a universal kit for for it, although it does have a lot of extra on it

wait ur a LSJ??? just buy the 2.2 garret kit for 2200...u can bolt that straight to you engine fine, turn the boost up to 20psi, get some 60lbs'ers...3"dp, 3" catback, a good HTP tune, and your looking at some nice #'s

The turbo, down pipe, and oil lines are all brand new. The piping is the only thing that has been used before.

Can you do a better price then the kit from ebay? What turbo is it, and does the piping fit nice and still in good shape?

The price is pretty firm, but we can always talk about it, and its not just the three parts you would also get the 2.2l belt and pensioner, duel pass end plate and intake hat. The turbo is a s20g- same one Hahn uses in their turbo kit. The piping is in excellent shape and comes with a tial bov already attached (fits the cobalt just fine, but not my Ion). The only thing you'd need to make the kit complete is a manifold.

An aftermarket intake manifold, or the SS Supercharged intake manifold can work with a turbo..

A stock exhaust manifold cannot and will not fit a turbo.

if you click on the link that i posted earlier it has pictures there. You need an exhaust manifold that is designed for a turbo. I mentioned 2.2 because you need a new belt system because the supercharger will not be there any more.

If you are not switching intake manifolds you can use that option....

If you do, you will need to do the tensioner from the 2.2/2.4, and modify your alternator...
