Turbo Removal

Hello I have a 06 lsj converted to a turbo and there is a major oil leak I think coming from the turbo. I am going to try and pull it tomorrow and find the leak but I have never done it before. Is it an extremely difficult task and do I have to drain anything before I start to unbolt it and what should I start unbolting first?

clean engine bay, with gunk spray. wash it down, and drive it see where the leak is comin from.
you think and it is are two different things. find the leak b4 u start tearing things a part.

spray gunk where the majority of the oil is at as best as you can. helps trackin down the problem.

ok well a mechanic saw the oil on the turbo and so do I. He said he was guna charge me $250 to take it apart and see if I need a rebiuldor a new turbo. So I was planning on taking it off myself and bringing it to him just to save the money.. Also can bad piston rings cause the turbo to leak?

so what if theres oil on the turbo, the wind can blow the oil on the turbo. like i said clean your engine then drive it then look for the oil leak. No bad piston rings cannot directly cause the turbo to leak, true story dot com

I bought the car with the turbo in it. its a turbonetics kit. I am going to clean the engine tonight then look for the leak after. It looks like the fresh oil is coming out of the oil drain tube that goes to the oil pan because it looks pretty wet when I am done driving it. Should I unbolt that or what???

check the line on top where the oil line goes into the turbo, that is more then likely going to be where the leak is coming from if theres oil on the turbo. undo the line and put some thread tape on the fitting and screw it back in. and while your doing that make sure the clamp holding on your return oil line to the oil pan is tight. if this doesnt solve your problem then you might actually have some kind of problem lol.
