My head is being ported during the rebuild, probably only exhaust side though. The only other thing I can think of is a 3" exhaust but I'm worried about the drone.

No, I ordered a 2.9 not 2.95. I was going to order the 2.75 but I don't want to push the motor that hard until after I break it in.

ya i need to drop my ported head on too, exhaust ported , intake smoothed out and 78lb springs with 3 angle valve job. but im not building my **** until i blow up im not gonna be one of those guys that does a build and then blow up

i'm sitting at 84k miles on the oem motor {sans valve springs, 50k on them} it's all in how you drive it. i spend 90% of my time on the highway.

are you still on the 272 grind cams? would changing the compression ratio help with the bigger blower?

I blew it already (180,180,180,110), haha. I haven't pulled it apart just yet to see how bad the damage is.

upping the compression will increase the total power across the range. there is a trade off though. limited range of timing you can use without race gas.

i am on stock lsj cams from an 06 actually

I think it was blown during tuning but it still ran fine with no misfires so I don't think the damage will be that bad. It's getting bored .010" over with Diamond pistons, ported head and installing the dual pass. Hopefully it won't blow again.

The engine grenading on itself has to do with your right foot 90% of the time. Don't "whack-a-mole" the right pedal in second gear, and your motor will thank you. Mine didn't blow before I remodeled it, and it still holds strong now. Can't wait till I start to drop pulley sizes

my gf doesn't like that second gear torque steer mashout. She always punches me since she doesn't expect it. Either that or when I waste gas on one of the thousand stupid scooby owners in this area.
