Anything new? Any idea's on building up the motor and then doing the twincharger? Maybe with about 35psi/boost?

Only one person ordered the kit...........you can still go to the websight and purchase one, but it seems they will only be offering it as an install, not as a kit that you would install yourself........

Dunno if this is a noob question, but why does the kit use the s/c to make boost at first and then just bypass the blower and make 25psi on just the turbo? Could they just make say 13psi in the turbo in series with the 12psi the blower makes on a stock pulley? Wouldnt that be simpler to set up and make the turbo work less hard?

I believe it has to do with the way the bypass valve works once the turbo is making 13psi the bypass thinks the car has no load or its cruising so it bypasses just like when you on the highway and you hold a constant speed.

I might be a little messed up in the way i explained it but i think im on the right path.

I want to build up the motor as well. Looking to produce 600hp effectively (no wheel hop, slamming the gas and not just roasting 'em, etc.)

I'm pretty positive you can't add the boost together.

Turbo 13psi + Blower 12psi DOES NOT = 25psi. The compressed air from the turbo will not gain 12psi from a blower that makes 12psi, it will stack the compressed air. It's a matter of physics. I may not be 100% correct, but you can not add turbo + blower = 25psi like asked.

Someone told me that pushing air from a Turbo to a Supercharger works as a multiplier. So 13psi + 8psi = 25psi. Or something like that...

But I don't know if that is true.

No you cannot add the boost. The blower is basically free spinning when the turbo kicks in so the turbo is making the 25 psi by its self

no, the blower doesn't just free spin. The blower compresses the air that is fed to it.

so i know theres a band aid fix for this but how exactly is this kit pushing 25psi when the 2.5 bar map sensor and ecm will only recognize up to 22.5lbs boost?

just curious? and what are they/you doing about the 12000mhz maf frequency?

I have a 2.7 pulley(im waiting for a 4''), on my twincharge setup, with a 14,5 psi spring in the wastegate, boost hit 29 psi a 2500 rpm...

the wastegate open at 19-20 psi

on my car, both boost is combine...

whew!!! That's a lot of boost fast. You definitely need to back off on the pulley. Going up to a 4" will help a lot. Lower IAT's will be the biggest improvement. I don't think you'll see too much slower spool time either.

your turbo is giving you 29lbs boost /

EDIT: you got in the way of the flame.... Ralli

i'd check your boost controllers... so whats the afr @ 29 psi

and your not throwing maf codes?

dont have boost controller just a 14.5 spring, this turbo and wastegate push 14 psi of boost in the charge pipe before the supercharger....29 psi after the supercharger

Just because im really bored and going through old stuff/memories...ill be a douche and dig up a REALLY old thread

***UPDATE***....almost 3 years later....

07blackSC, one of my best friends, was having some issues with the car, very long story

*Was on stock internals the whole time, never blew, never any block, piston, sleeve, head issues, etc and the car saw many beatings and a few times saw 30-35 psi during boost spikes/compounded boost while having issues

Went back to a blower setup and sold the car in June of 09 and has since gone through a few other fun toys

...miss that that SS...besides Chris and myself, I only know of 1, maybe 2 other people that had the privilege of driving it and it was one hell of a fun car

As of now, I know this is nothing knew, others have gone twincharged, big turbo, pushed the limits, etc and ZZP went from developing a twincharged setup to a damn near 900whp cobalt

***** come along way thats for sure

Being that I was around from the beginning and saw it all as it progressed from GMS2, through all the mods, to Twincharge, all the updates, the first ride, driving it, filming all vids when the car first got back (yes thats me filming all the vids in this thread and occasionally giggling like a girl lol), and all the great times raising hell around town in it... figured i would give this dead thread a R.I.P.

I always wished he had brought the car to us to get the wastegate issue addressed. It seems pretty common for people to just move on to something else when they encounter a couple hurdles, though. Always a new mod car...

Yea, i remember it all, lots of long nights with the cobalt, always will be those what ifs...
But damn was that one hell of a car lol

Still remember driving it and holding dead even with him in his dads old SRT10, i mean i knew what it was putting down and the weight difference, but knowing the cars theoretical potential and actually riding door to door with a Viper are completely different lol obviously wouldnt be terribly uncommon now, but 3 years ago that was fairly new **** to the cobalt world lol

If anything, hopefully the problems chris ran into helped situate some problems for the couple other guys that had the twincharge kit later on
