Upgraded Intercooler Pump?

Hello all. I tried using the search button, but as usual it let me down. I was wondering if there was an upgraded intercooler pump that we could put in our cars? I know you can get the Cobra intercooler pump, and everyone says its an upgrade. But are there any flow numbers on any of these pumps? Like how much does the stock pump flow? The Cobra pump? etc...

I was basically thinking of putting a larger pump that had a little more flow than what we currently have. I have a stage III end plate on my car with the factory fill neck (no tank).

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Vince.

P.S.-The reason why I have brought this up is because my stock pump has failed!!! And I am out of the warranty...

The stock pump we have is the same pump in the lightning & cobras and the same pump they sell for aftermarket use. I know what your thinking but there just is no pump other than the one you have in your car currently. See if you can find one at a junkyard if you can't afford the pricey stocker.

Go to the pump victory_red_SS is using (it is in his thread), the same as the pump in the phase 5 Cobalts and definitely not stock.

Is this pump electrical or belt driven?

Yeah thats the same stocker. It's a BOSCH unit that all Laminova core'd cars use. Don't know about the LS9 though, that thing uses some new core technology.

What about an aftermarket engine water pump, like this

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

I know its not a cheap unit, but you can't beat one like that for flow. You might need to power it with a relay, as most of those draw more than the 10 amps or so that the stocker pulls.

That pump is a little overboard i think, 55gpm is insane, our stock pumps about 7-9gpm max i thought. I have an aftermarket pump thats up to 26 gpm, and it is a Jabsco 0012-50813 12 volt low pressure cyclone pump. Cost is about $200. The Jabsco was recommended to me by a GM engineer in the performance division. Fabbing up aftermarket brackets to mount the pump is the hard part, but that shouldn't take too long if you know where to put it.

My bad, I saw it on that "other" forum in his thread.
Here is the picture

This pump is the water pump on the Pro FWD Cobalts and victory will be using 2, on for the water pump and one for the intercooler.
This pump can be found on page 91 of the build book, Fig. 172 but it too is 55GPM, at about the same cost as the one already linked here.

That thing is crazy looking but a little overboard for anyone here looking for an upgraded intercooler pump.

Thanks for all of the info guys. I'm kind of broke right now so it looks like it's gonna be Ebay to the rescue!!! I've got to get that as well as some new plugs! The BKR7E's I'm using aren't quite cold enough for 10:1 comp and 17 psi...

Is this the same pump as referenced in the above picture?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mezie...spagenameZWD1V

If it is, this might be a nice upgrade if the stock pump flows 7-9 gpm

That one looks nice.
I had the 10:1 pistons in also and I took them out I couldn't run any timing. Are you running a water meth kit? They worked great on race gas but sucked ass on the 91 octane around hear. They forget to tell you that in the ecotech build book.
