upped rev limit on gm stage2?

Okay, 2 friends of mine have SS's, one has a stage 2 and the other doesn't. I know the one without redlines at 6500 and the one with redlines at 7200(maybe 7400?) . From the reading I've done here I've seen posts that say a stage 2 gm flash will not up the rev limit. He does however have a gm stage 2, installed by another mechanic. Did he void the crap outta his warrenty with the upped rev or what?

The GM Stage 2 kit does not void warrenty. It is through GM. It does raise the rev limiter from 6500 rpm - 7000 rpm.

i thought if you bought the stage 2 that it voids your warranty... but keep the warranty for the GMstage 2 parts?

The allmighty GMPP division has set the rev limiter at 7000, so apparently GM doesn't think it's a problem. Yes, I saw the post where the GM tech came and stated that the valves do start to float around 6800, but GM doesn't car so I wouldn't either.

all your power is gone after 6500 anyways so why run the car to 7000 yeah you'll get some more mph. I just don't see the point in putting more stress on the engine then you half to. just my two cents

um....by power do you mean torque..?? or do you mean horsepower..??
the torque not building after 6500 might be close, but horsepower builds until redline.
I won't even touch the valves floating at 6800....

I dont even have a cobalt yet, and I can guarantee you after 6500 you get alot of power. When the one friend got his stage2 installed he kept getting beat by the guy without. So we go for a few runs to analyse his problem, he was shifting at 6400 still, shifting at 7000 made it a rape... if you didn't get power after 6500 gm wouldn't up the redline.
