Upper motor mount & trans mounts upgrades
i know what u mean brotha nothing like having a shitty morning and u hop in ur car and start her up and she ******* rumbles..changes ur day real nice..if it wasnt for my car i would 1 never be happy when i get to work...and 2 never be happy when i get home from work
well i did solid mounts. I agree it took me about an hour. Vibrations are pretty bad but no one bought this car because of the amazing ride. ha. I am kinda having a slight problem now though. I got home and my transmission was pouring fluid, since it is a manual i don't think it was a seal. I have a feeling that the transmission cracked. has anyone else experienced this?
i am praying that it is covered under warranty

Subject: Transmission fluid Leak Slipping Clutch Or Broken Axle Shaft - keywords crack housing shift slip #PIP3932 - (09/29/2006)
Models: 2005-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS
2004-2007 Saturn Ion Redline
Equipped with a 5-Speed Manual Transmission (RPO MU3)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers have commented about transmission oil in the clutch housing, slipping clutches or broken axle shafts on this model. An analysis of several of these failures has revealed that the problem is due to excessive front wheel hop during WOT acceleration events.
Excessive wheel hop transmits a torsional shock load into the transmission case. This causes the case to crack and transmission fluid to leak into the clutch housing. See photos below.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Stiffer axle shafts and hardware will change the system harmonics and help prevent wheel hop. These planned changes will not be available until the 2008 model year.
Note:: Be advised that failures of this nature are abuse. They are NOT defects in materials or workmanship for which General Motors would be responsible and should not be covered under the terms of the new vehicle warranty. Vehicles with this complaint should be inspected by the dealer and Area Vehicle Manager. A product report should be submitted on each.

I'm really not impressed by the vibrations as it feels like it's metal to metal & I have yeat to instal the tranny bushings!
I work with urethane at our company & I might try to make a softer compound bushing for the mount as the one with the mount has such a hard derometer I think it could be alot softer & still offer great benefits for reducing heel hop. Plus upon installing it I noticed it actually pulled the motor up about 1/4" higher. I supported the motor on that side & removed the old mount & then put the new TTR mount in place & it set 1/4" or abit more above the motor while mounted to the car.
I'm not sure I will keep it as that changed the geometry of the drive train & it's crazy on the vibrations. My steering wheel shakes, all my mirrors plus I need to remove everything from the glove box or it all rattles.
I took apart my Ingalls TD & found if I just adjust it a bit stiffer the play in the shaft is gone so I might be putting it back on with the stock motor mount & sell the upper mount & bushings on here?
I have herd that the vibrations are reduced after the mount breaks in but dam I'm not sure I want to wait that long!
I'd like to hear from some people who have the mount from TTR & see what you say Plus if I mount the tranny bushins I figure I distroy the stock mounts as far as the rubber in them right? as I hate to do that & decide I want to go back to stock?

I am guessing you can always buy new ones! My dash rattles really bad during acceleration and even though there is nothing in my glove box it still rattles. There was a thread about how to fix that but i can't seem to find it.
