Vacume leak
Start the car, pull the e-brake up, toss the car in neutral, get out of the car, pop the hood, listen for a vacuum leak. It will basically sound like a hissing, put your hand over all of the hoses etc and see if you feel any air.
Have you recently changed anything, injectors, pulley, tune, etc? It could be that your fuel trims are out of whack also.

i had this problem on my old ford contour, and my mechanic told me to check the o2 sensors. I haven't gotten around to it yet but i'm gonna try it. I was also throwing the p0171 code so maybe you could give that a try?
People say you can also spray carb cleaner around those vacuum areas and if the idle raises then you know where your problem is.
I currently have the P0171 issue but my fuel trims are out of whack with my tune.

brake clean doesnt always work. the best thing to do is find areas that you suspect and try using an acetelyne tourch (not lit) and use a very light bit of acetilyne around were you suspect, if the idle picks up, thats your leak.
this code is caused by your fuel trims getting high, and many things can cause that. bad maf, an aftermarket intake, a vacuum leak, an exhaust leak before the o2 sensor (basicly would be a cracked manifold/header), engine misfire all can cause it.
