Well one of my JBP valve springs broke also. JBP is telling me that it's a clearance issue with the head casting and that it should have been checked for clearance during install...

They are offering to send me a replacement and telling me that I should have a machine shop check for clearance during install.

We are on it right now. I should have the valve springs listed today for both ferrea and supertech.

Supertech Valve Springs are added now.

If you got the supertech 94lbs springs, you could prolly rev to 9000+

Ok i have a few questions on this topic. If i were to get the 94 lb springs from supertech, i wouldnt need other supporting mods would i? i know i should get the ballance shafts, and the springs comes with new retainers. what about seats? These much much stiffer springs wouldnt throw my timing off at all? im guessing no. I also see that it requires a smaller seal. where would you get that?

Im on the phone with them right now. I will let you know what they have to say.

Ok here is the deal. The smaller seal is the valve guide seal that is needed. Due to the double springs you can run into binding issues with the springs if you use the stock sized seal. I am working on getting a part number and adding it to the site. Hopefully I will have them soon for you guys.

Both Ferrea and Supertech are the two of the best valve spring manufacturers imo. We're lucky they make springs for our engines. GMPD seems to like the Bates, I know the ESGV0002 dual coil ones are supposed to be run with solid lifters. The single coil ESGV0001 Bates springs are made to be run with a stock valvetrain, but if Halfcent said he dropped a valve with Bates, I imagine they had to be the singles unless he broke both coils.

For those of you on the fence on Supertechs, go to Honda-tech.com and search supertech to see what some of the import guys who have been using them for years have to say about them.

The Ferreas are definetly top notch, I've never heard of anyone having so much as a hiccup after installing them into an Ecotec or any other engine.

Witt, you using the 78lbs supertechs?

If so, do you need anything else? Or are the dual springs and Ti retainers all you need? Also, did you need to clearance any of your oil frame passages for these to fit?

I'm still waiting on parts to finish, but yes, I am using the supertech 78s. They are a direct replacement for stock valves and also for supertech valves. Not sure what you mean by clearancing oil frame passages.

That is what JBP told us led to the broken valve springs that they sent us.

Isn't that the part that surrounds where the retainers normally are when the valve is closed? If so, you have more clearance there than you do in the channel where the bottom of the spring sits. If the springs don't clear those passageways up top, theres no way they will sit on top of a stock seat/seal. I think I'm still a little confused.
