Stock valves are said to Float at like 7200rpm.

If the stock valves are said to float at 7200 rpms, is it "dangerous" to take it to 7000k rpms on the dyno?

Edit: I have the gm stage 2 tune, so I can hit 7k rpms. Roughly.

that's what i thought, thats about where i want to set mine, 7200/7500 and i don't want to destroy stuff. doesn't stage 3 allow you to go all the way to 8000?

stage 3 allows u to adjust ur rev limiter to anywhere between 7k-8k i believe it allows u to raise it by 250 rpm incriments.

what happens when u float a valve?

basically it doesnt stay on the cam lobe (stays open) and pretty much lose power

I rev mine out to 7200-7300k all the time, I have had no problems. My limiter is set at 7500k but yes I can set it to 8000k with the stage 3.

No... you will have absolutely no problems with valves in that sense.

Sounds good.

Which is why I said "Stock valves are SAID to Float at like 7200rpm."

Stock pistons are also SAID to go out at like 260-280hp...

That's been smashed quite a few times.

7200rpm's is where GM says they have potential to float.

Just upgrade them and take that bitch to 8k.

I am making 270hp to the wheels...do you think i should upgrade my stock pistons to the diamond pistons everyone uses, and with doing so also upgrade the springs even though i won't be taking my car over 7k rpm's?

Is 270whp really to much for the stock pistons....if so...thats sad.

also - if the stock pistons go at around 260-280...why is the zzp twin kit making 445hp and still pulling strong?

thats just what GM suggests. raven built his entire motor and it still blew. ZZP's car won't last long like that on stock internals.

You fail.

GM SAYS that the stock pistons won't hold more than 300hp (not WHP... but BHP). Obviously there are quite a few people making WELL over than.

Your best bet is to switch them out, just to be safe... if you plan on making more HP eventually.

Its all in the tune really.

currently i have the gm stage 2 tune, but i will be getting an actual tune sometime in july when my tuner gets back.

I do plan on making more power, what do you suggest I upgrade to stay "safe"?
