Vertical fin on front bumper

I noticed this vertical fin, I'm guessing the splash guard on the front bumper that hangs down approximately 4 inches. It scraps on everything, I don't know if it's my bumper scraping or just this fin.

Then I notice the OTTP car and a couple of others around here they don't have it.

How do I get rid of it? Is it even worth the trouble?

some call it a scrape guard, its just a piece of plastic that pushes cool air into your engine bay and stock radiator to cool things down a bit. It isnt absolutely necessary to have there, but GM did put it there for a reason. There are screws attaching it to the underside of the car, take those out and itll come right off.

You talking about the fin that moves air up to the radiator?

yeah its used for air, but its noticable when you hit somthing and before it breaks your oil pan, itll hit that and hopefully tear it off. lol. happened to me. lol

If you have a stock SS/SC, id leave it, you have a Heat exchanger and A/C condenser in front of the radiator, you are loosing airflow. if you run an aftermarket H/E and remove the stock one, i would get rid of it.

dude just put the radiator and condensor on top of the hood lol. but at a stand still your car is not getting flow by movment of the car, so therefor the only time that is needed is when you are moving but you also have the fans/ front bumber air dam/ the grill, so it is really not needed to me at all, just a gm **** up like usual. lol

that doesnt make any sense. most of the aftermarket HE's are bar and plate which flow even less air through them. i would leave the fin on there

I wouldn't remove the fin. It is there to help direct air into the radiator when driving at slower speeds (under 40 mph). Without the fin there the car will not cool as effectively when you are driving at slower speeds.

If you drive all highway or drive above 40 mph all the time then you COULD remove it as it does nothing at those speeds.

The one I installed on Stealty1ss's car mounted below the bumper, catching its own airflow thru the lower grille.

When driving it bends back so i cant imagine it direct air torwards the radiator. It it was a harder plastic i would understand having it. Its pointless, throw it out.
