Notgood ones.
UPDATE, July 26th, 2008
As many you have read, I have been in Toronto the past 5 days dealing with all the shops involved in the project. These meetings have been productive as far as communicating my evaluation of the project. Sadly the meetings have produced much frustration for me and my wife (you remember her, the wonderful woman who allows me to build this car)
As I met with each shop I have tried to get commitments on final budgets/costs. The wall I ran into always came in the form of a single word. That word is, CUSTOM. I have come to the understanding that in the automotive profession there is a second definition for the word custom and that definition is:
Custom = Financial Rapage
I have had so much of this custom crap that I am once again at the point where calling it quits has gotten a step closer. And it gets even worse. Everyone knows that I have always refused to disclose the cost of this project for a few reasons. Those reasons include the fact that I dont want to appear boastful, I feel this is a private matter and I dont want to confirm what many of you already suspect, I am a complete and utter idiot for wasting all of this money.
I have heard repeatedly that this car will be worth it when it is finished. No it wont, no car is worth this kind of money. Money that is soon going to run out before the whole project is done. Seriously this is where I find this project headed. The wife has put a cap on this project and in all fairness her cap is much higher than the majority of wives combined
I type this as I sit and wait for my plane home and I am demoralized by this. It was suggested to me today that I fix the engine on the daily driver and sell it so I can put the money into the project. My answer to that was the one finger salute. I am not about to lose another SS/SC, no fing way.
The options at this point are to stop the project, gut the project or hand myself before the wife cuts my ***** off, dick and all. Gutting the project includes totally scrapping the second engine. The problem with that option is that this removes the ability of me going ***** to the wall on the race track for fear of killing the only engine. Then again I guess if the wife dissects me I wont have ball to go to the wall with.
The other option that was floated was aggressively pursuing major corporate sponsors. The downside to that plan is we would need a running engine, dyno tuned and tested with outrageous results to entice companies with. We would also use those results with companies whose parts we have already used for the first build in hope to secure the parts for the second engine.
In case you are still reading this novel, the engine should be built in 3 weeks, the pedals should work after we move the seats back to the roll bar and the intake manifold/intercooler is 90% finished. Jason is doing an awesome job on the wiring and I even chose to give him a bonus. In hindsight now, I could sure use the money now.
In closing, guys dont make the mistake I made. When modding your cars do not let anyone make you anything custom. I went over the parts list and I saw adjustable hand reamer and I pointed out the mistake as I personally know that they meant to type adjustable ass reamer.
If you must have custom work please ensure that lubrication is used and that they include a kiss first and a reach around during.

Rod I must say you are an ambitious man. I think you should just stick with one motor for the RWD cobalt and call it a day. In the end it will just be more and more money. Say worst case senario comes is that motor blows at least it can sit in the garage and rest until you make some funds back to fix it.

I hope she never sees your post and get some crazy idea about payback
I understand that. I really hope that this doesn't even come close to happening to you Dan, as well as everyone else doing crazy builds.
Looking back I would have been better of dropping a 572 with S/C into my car.
