Warning To All With A Cai
Ive had an AEM cai for quite a while now. Until recently, my car has been acting strangely in rain. So today I decided to take out the cai and examine it. As i had expected, the filter was VERY VERY wet. Even after it had been sunny today and around 75 deg ( it rained yesterday ), the filter was still very wet. Now I have a CEL, and it felt like it bogged down/hesitated every time I tried to WOT.
So now im stuck slapping the stock air filter on, until I come up with a way to use my AEM safely.

sorry ledgendary mike, i hate to disagree with you but, sr<CAI. On my buddies 2.2 he went from a sr to a cai and his intake temps dropped 10 degrees
I had the same issue with my AEM. All you have to do is get the hydroshield as mentioned above. Problem solved.
Also, I do not like oiled filters because 1. alot to maintain. 2. You will throw a CEL. Usually because Oil gets on the MAF sensor. 3. Dryflow filters are soooooo much easier.

Injen makes water repellent shields for the filters and it fits right over the dryflow i have an injen intake with a dryflow and the shield went right over it never had any problems (knock on wood)

I got the hydro shield with the injen CAI I just purchased. I have heard of people having problems with their filters getting wet so I figured it was a good idea. It doesn't surprise me that this happens with the location of a CAI.
