warranty--diagnostics charge??

Hey guys, so my downpipe cracked right near that flex party of it and has a big exhaust leak thats loud. So i have an extended 6 year/ 70,000mi warranty with my car so i decided to bring it in. I figured while it was in might as well fix the 1) downpipe 2) The switch for my sunroof fell out 3) my supercharger makes a marbles in a can noise sometimes (i was told it was the coupler) and 4) at idle there is a sort of high pitched humming noise coming from the rear that sounds like the fuel pump so figured have them check that out too

I have a $0 deductible for my warranty but the guy said there is a $118 dollar charge diagnostics fee for them to look at it and see whats wrong.

Does this sound right? Did anyone else have to pay this fee? Thanks guys.

so i dont get that... should i argue it?

and do you think he meant that if theres something thats not covered under warranty and they had to spend the time to figure out it was that and not something thats covered, then you pay a charge?

I dont know need some help here...i also thouight it was weird because whats the point of paying for a warranty if you still pay more after?

Most, if not all, dealers have a flat one hour labor charge for hooking up their Tech 2 or whatever diagnostic machine they use. And most dealers flat rate is $100 or so. Just like when you had your stage kit flashed. It only took 15 minutes but they charged you an hour because the data went directly to GM, where ever they are, and back to your car. GM charges the dealer for this and they're recovering their costs. Most warranties are for normal were and tear. psrts and labor only and DRIVE LINE ONLY.

Depends on the warranty! My buddy got an extended warranty on his 02 Silverado from CarMax and it covered everything, aside from wear and tear items

I take it the extended warranty is bumper to bumper? If thats the case they have to abide by the warranty and not breach contract....legal issues. I'm going through the same thing right now with GM on their factory warranties but I won't discuss that here...pm me if you have additional questions.

Also I thought my SC coupler was bad turned out to be the clutch was rattling not the sc coupler...

got a call from the guy today...says the downpipe is cracked (nooo shiitttt like i said)...said the sunroof switch isnt covered under warranty and needs a new bezel? ($49) ... and recommendeds a new fuel filter ($89.00)..oh and the downpipe is covered under warranty. So i said just do the downpipe, ill fix the switch mysefl (i fixed it once before just a pain in the ass doesnt need a new anything, then my friend got drunk and ripped it out again like an ass)...and i told him i already changed my fuel filter at 29,000 ... he goes ummm ohh ok we wont touch that than....basically feels like they were just looking for a way to make money, said cant tell about any of the noises i said to them til they fix the downpipe because its too loud and also that they have to order the part so my cars going to be there til tues/wed...so thats gay
