Well, it happened, first thing to break after modding......

So yeah, what do you guys think I broke last night..........?

clutch..................nope
axle....................nope
headgasket..........nope
valve...................nope

anyone?anyone?

My ******* speedo!!!!!!! I guess its not a good thing to burry it past 160 5 runs in a row.....
It now reads 15mph when stopped and stays 15mph over the correct speed all the time. Guess I'll take it into the dealer for warranty work on Monday. My passenger side door handle is also coming apart (the chrome)

but here is my kill list from last night:
1989 MKIII Supra on 18lbs and some mods
1992 Fox body GT running 6lbs on a procharger (supposedly 370whp)
Audi TT rinning 18lbs and chipped
SRT-4 with some mods (he told me but I can't remember anything except upped boost and BOV)
Mach1 stang stock
Couple of modded GT's
1995 Camaro SS close to stock
1998 Trans am close to stock

I lost to:
Procharged Mach1 stang
2004 Cobra modded
2003 vette I/E (but it was close)
some liter bike

Nice kills you got there! Sucks that the speedo broke, but maybe you shouldn't have been going that fast anyhow. What does the car feel like at those speeds... just for informational purposes....?

Actually, after the first few times it isn't that big a deal. But now when I'm going 40-50 I feel like I could jump out and walk faster than the car is going......

THe car is extremely stable at those speeds. Not that I'm suprised mind you, but it just kinda hunkers down and holds the road nicely.

well, after going 160 5 times in a row, you should be happy that the only thing that went wrong was the speedometer. Im just waiting to start hearing the threads rolling in from people dieng from driving that fast and hitting a bump or an animal in the road....

Seems like the motor rod that connects to the needle kept going past 160, but the needle didn't. If it reads 15 mph when your at 0 wouldn't that mean you actually went 175!?!? I wouldn't do that, the stock tires are only rated to 168, anything faster and you risk throwing the tread!

Could be, but to be honest, I didn't notice that the speedo was fucked till after we ran.....So I can't say for sure how fast I went. I'm not on the stock tires.

Ok i think to believe this im gonna need some proof. Timeslip? Picture? Because the video while nice, is not a 160+trapping cobalt. Also you would kill everthing on the street no exceptions, becuase to trap 160+ you would have an 8sec car. Where are your drag slicks?

Yea, I know what you mean. Once you start going fast its like a drug. It gets easier and easier to do it every time. Then a ticket gets handed to you and slows you down, well sometimes.

ahah sounds like a fun night! but the dealership, depending on how much of the pole is stuck up their ass on that day, will probly look in your "black box" and see that you burried the needle countless times, and might deny you warrante work. Hopefully not, though!

never said it was 1/4...and anybody can figure out that he was definitely not at a track so hes obviously racing on the street..

top speed competitions arent racing, if you cant beat someone off the line to 100mph, your driving a slower car, period

They can not look in his "black box".

Racing to 160 is dumb and the only way you could beat MOST of the cars on that list.

The box only records like the last few seconds before an accident or something like that...

Yeah, okay buddy. Most of the races I did didn't get above 120 that night. But when I was running on the Highway against the SRT we went all out. I'm waiting for the vids to get back to me from the audi, the trans am, and the Mach 1. You can think what you want, but that is one of the dumbest responses I've ever heard. I mean think about it, if I'm able to pull these cars in 5th gear which is not one of our strongest, don't you think I wouldn't have any problem pulling them at lower speeds.....? Of course traction becomes an issue but....... And when I was running hte SRT they were all 2nd gear starts. Just go look at the video and STFU.

The cars on the list all lost to me, none of them hung or pulled and then just topped out and let me pass them by....

A win is a win is a win. If I wanted a drag car I wouldn't have bothered with the Cobalt. I wanted a street car, and thats what I have.

The only people that ever bitch about running from a roll are the awd guys who all want to run from a dig.

lol i think the only reason a few people are sketched about your story (im not by the way, i think its beleivable, although some details may be off, but not because of you lying) is the 370rwhp fox. any fox with 370 at the wheels shoudl ROCK THE LIVING **** OUT OF YOU. i think that guy lied to you. most of the 5.0's could run mid 14's with the stock low 200's at the wheels. 370 at the wheels would put him into the low 12's at the highest.
