The factory recommended - 5w30 Mobile1 synthetic. I usually change my oil and filter out 2,000 to 2,500 miles depending on how I drive.

I use Mobil 1 5W-30 because the manual for the car says to.

Yes I know that Mobil just paid GM to reccomend their oil, but its still good oil.

I ran mobil 1 for 35k, switched to royal purple and theres a noticeable difference I think. MPG's are up 2-4 now, havent changed my driving habits. Real synthetic ftw

I dont see why not. As long as its not leaking anywhere, theres no problems running full synthetic the life of an engine

Only the F23 uses ATF for lube. Otherwise the F35 takes actual gear lube (dont remember weight)

I run Mobil1 in my car and truck. Amsoil in my bikes and 69 Corona. From all the reading I have done from independent testing Motul, Mobil1 and Amsoil are the superior oils. In the same studies royal purple was one of the poorest performers in all categories.

I use Amsoil.. In all honesty though, you can use any fully synthetic oil that meets the GM requirements until the DIC says 0% oil life, and then some.

The oil life monitoring system is a highly advanced system that was first designed for the C5 corvette. It was a first in the automotive industry. This same system has been advanced even more since then, and is used in our cobalts along with many other GM vehicles. It uses readings such as oil temperature/time, rpm/time, number of cold starts, warm starts, ambient air temp/time, time since last change, etc, etc. GM engineers spent years designing this system, and it is highly accurate. Anyone who changes their oil before the DIC says 0% is wasting their money. You can usually get about 12,000-15,000 miles out of any fully synthetic oil with zero negative effects.
