theres not a sound or performance differance between the two?

That normally has more to do with the basic internals of the design, not the shape of the tip.

Ricey Fart Cans have as part of their design, pieces inside that resonate and make them sound "FASTER "

Basically, there are some Mufler Companies out there that make the mufler to sound a certain way, we can call it Ricey. You have heard them on Cars in your area, I'm sure of it. Before buying a mufler, I would look around for someone that has it to hear what it sounds like.

Nothing worse than getting a new toy and not being happy...

In most cases the oval muffler will be quieter due to more interior volume and roving more material to absorb sound.

A properly built round muffler will sound good also but most cheap round mufflers are built to be loud.

As for performance as long as both are straight through they should perform the same.
